JANNIS GEM PUSHES PONIES PAST ERIE: Binghamton beat Erie, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon, earning the series victory in the rubber game. Mickey Jannistossed seven scoreless innings , while Corey Taylor collected his first career Double-A save. Alberto Baldonado extending his scoreless streak to five games (8.0 IP).

BINGHAMTON  STARTER: LHP PJ Conlon makes his fourth start of the season in Binghamton’s first game against Akron. Conlon fired six scoreless innings and took a no-decision in his last start against the Sea Dogs on April 18. He fanned six Sea Dogs and allowed only three hits. The Rumble Ponies lost in ten innings, 2-0. This season, Conlon has allowed four earned runs in 17 innings, all four scoring after the fourth inning.

AKRON STARTER: RubberDucks Opening Day starter, Julian Merryweather, readies for his fourth start of 2017. After beginning the season by allowing five earned runs in two innings against Bowie, the 5th round draft pick has combined to toss twelve frames while allowing just two earned runs. Merryweather made 13 starts for Akron in 2016, compiling a 5-4 mark with a 3.89 ERA.

CONLON’S CLEVELAND CLASH: LHP P.J. Conlon’s only experience against a Cleveland Indians affiliate came back on July 26, 2014 when Conlon played for the Brooklyn Cyclones. A rookie Conlon pitched one scoreless inning in relief against Mahoning Valley and had not made a professional start yet in his career.

FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME: RubberDucks starting pitcher Julian Merryweather has not faced a Mets affiliate since, August 7, 2014, during his first season. As a member of Mahoning Valley, Merryweather was slapped with the loss in a 4-0 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones. Tomas Nido was the only current Rumble Pony involved in the game.

BLACKJACK: Binghamton RHP Corey Taylor earned his first career Double-A save on Sunday afternoon, the 21st of his Minor League career. Last season, Taylor ranked second in the Florida State League with 20 saves.   

SQUEAKY CLEAN: In Sunday’s first inning, Rumble Ponies INF Luis Guillorme  made two stellar defensive plays to rob the SeaWolves of a pair of hits. Binghamton did not commit an error in the game, their fourth error-free game in the last five contests Binghamton’s eight errors as a team are the second-fewest in the league.

TAYLOR TO THE TOP: Kevin Taylor extended his team-high hitting streak to ten games with a two-hit game on Sunday. Taylor’s streak is tied for the fourth longest in the Eastern League this season. He is 14-for-37 (.378) during the 10-game frame with 3 RBI and 5 walks. Taylor compiled a 14-game hitting streak with St. Lucie last year.

UP NEXT: The Rumble Ponies continue their three-game series against the RubberDucks on Tuesday night at 6:35 PM. RHP Donovan Hand makes his Rumble Ponies debut against RHP Michael Peoples.
