Wow. A Kenney Hernandez sighting.
ReplyDeleteOne of our readers (Hobie?) pointed out that all of us are snubbing Kaczmarski in our Top prospect lists. I like him, and have my eye on him, but so far, he doesn't qualify as a top prospect.
I have Kaz coming up pretty soon in my list. I was disappointed in his lack of power in 2017, and that and his age (26 at year end) slipped him further on my list than I had hoped. He needs a killer 2018 to jump. So does Pobereyko. Both killed it yesterday
ReplyDeletePart of the Kacz snubbing, I think, is his age. He graduated college at 23 and has 3 yrs of professional ball under his belt (the first coincident with his 4th yr of college--and that .465 BA). There's that "why wasn't he drafted younger?" baggage he has to carry which is almost as burdensome as TJ's "why weren't you drafted at all?"
ReplyDeleteHe has more speed than Nimmo and I thought they were going to give him a spin in CF in AZ (LF yesterday). He can hit (TJ like).
Hobie, I hope you are right on Kacz. His one controllable should be to determine how he can really boost his XBH totals - is it weight training? I dunno...but 28 extra base hits in 531 at bats last year is substandard - I am sure he'd have greater attention from the hierarchy if that XBH rate doubled.
ReplyDeleteEleven career homers in 1291 career PAs is just weak for an OF, particularly. That's a good month for Cespedes.
@Hobie
ReplyDeleteKaz is "listed" as a CF.....so i would expect him to get some time there soon
