The New York Mets have purchased the Syracuse Chiefs, per syracuse.com, and will move their AAA affiliate to that city beginning with the 2019 season.

DeleteThe Norfolk Tides are the ones who refused to renew the player development contract.
Although is was in part due to disagreements with the Wilpons and more specifically Omar Minaya.
Gary, the point is they OWN the franchise. They can do anything they want including move it.

ReplyDeleteSpeaking as probably the sole El Paso resident here, let me say I'd be bowled over if the Chihuahuas did not renew their affiliation with San Diego. They have gone to two straight PCL championship games and the town LOVES them here.
