The Toronto Blue Jays have entered into a one year, $5mil agreement with ex-Met OF Curtis Granderson. The San Francisco Giants have traded RHP Kyle Crick and OF Bryan Reynolds to Pittsburgh for OF Andrew McCutchen. The Minnesota Twins have signed ex-Mets reliever Addison Reed to a 2-year, $16.75mil deal. The Washington Nationals have agreed to a two year, $7mil deal for IF-OF Howie Kendrick. Arizona has signed ex-Mets P Tyler Pill to a minor league contract.
Heck, he can cover infield and centerfield as well, and he just may now be within Wilpon price range.
By the way, while I like Bruce and fancy him a better player than Grandy as of 2018, it strikes me that signing him for $5 million as Conforto insurance made more sense than signing Bruce for $39 million as primarily Conforto insurance. Of course, so long as those monies were used to upgrade 2b/3b and the pitching. But, what the heck do I know?
Good luck, Grandy. Evidently, the Mets felt he was not worth $5MM, good guy or not. I agree. He's older. I think he deteriorates.
ReplyDeleteBesides they need another RH option for the bench. Kendrick hurts.
ReplyDeleteWe are looking at a 4-man bench. Lag, Wilmer and whichever Catcher isn't starting are 3 of them. Why do we need another righty bat?
ReplyDeleteAgree Bill, Kendrick id a nice bench bat but his inability to play shortstop means he's not a fit here.
