TRADE - P - Matt Harvey
The New York Mets have traded pitcher Matt Harvey to the Cincinnati Reds, for catcher Devin Mesoraco. Both teams have agreed the remainder of this year's salary due the player they traded . That means the Mets will pay Harvey $5.625mil and Cincy will pay Mesoraco $13.125mil. Mesoraco is an ex-first round pick, by the Reds, in the 2007 draft. He has hit .234 over parts of eight seasons. Mesoraco is currently 30 years old and is a free agent at the end of this season.
Here's a catcher. Problem at least partially solved.
ReplyDeleteSo, we were going to eat Harvey's salary if we dropped him.
ReplyDeleteNow, we eat it and get a vet catcher.
Good deal in my book.
End of a mini-era.
Cincinnati is likely gambling that Harvey can rebound enough to be flipped at the July trading deadline. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
