Lakeland 4 - St. Lucie 1


PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 22, 2018) – The Lakeland Flying Tigers beat the St. Lucie Mets 4-1 on Friday in the conclusion of a suspended game from Thursday.

The seven-inning game scheduled later for Friday evening was postponed due to inclement weather. The teams will play a doubleheader at First Data Field on Saturday to get the series back on track.

Game 1 on Saturday is set to begin at 4 p.m. and last seven innings. There will be a 30-minute break before the start of game 2.

Fans with tickets to Friday’s game can exchange those tickets for any other game this season with the exception of July 4th. For $1 fans can upgrade to a Saturday fireworks game.

On Friday, the teams picked up their suspended game with no score in the second inning. Lakeland’s Kenny Wilson quickly put the Flying Tigers up 1-0 on a solo home run.

The Mets answered with a run in the bottom of the third when Gene Cone lifted a sac fly to bring home J.J. Franco and tie the game 1-1.

The Flying Tigers took the lead for good on a two-out RBI single by Luke Burch in the fourth inning.

Lakeland plated two insurance runs on a sac fly and RBI single in the ninth inning to go up 4-1.

Eudis Idrogo limited the Mets to one run on four hits in seven innings to get the win. Evan Hill handled a perfect ninth for his first save.

Thomas McIlraith suffered the loss for the Mets. He took over for starter Josh Prevost and gave up two runs on four hits in three innings.

Adam Atkins tossed three scoreless and hitless innings.

Anthony Dimino went 2 for 4 with a double.

The Mets went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position.
