Open Thread -- Outfielder Rajai Davis



The Mets announced today the signing of speedster Rajai Davis, career .261 hitter, to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training.  He trails only Jose Reyes and Ichiro Suzuki in stolen bases among active players.  The Mets represent his eight ballclub.  By March 23rd the team must either add him to the 40-man roster (a strong possibility) or pay him a $100,000 retention bonus as they did last season with Jose Lobaton.

    There's nothing not to like here. With the AAA outfield barren except for former football players they needed some warm bodies. The major league outfield is pretty thin as well, unless you believe in Dom Smith and Jeff McNeil as outfielders. Nothing to lose...

    I doubt they are done .. still need to address outfield & strengthening of the bench .. I gotta think Plewecki, Legares & Vargas gotta he on the block still

    Anthony something tells me you are right.
    Tony Sipp will be the next signing as Lefty specialist
    But Harper is going to be a long process as a Borass client.
    I don't believe Harper wants to play in Chicago or atleast with the White sox
    There has been rumblings he doesn't want to play in Philly.
    So with agreeing with you Anthony,sometime in mid February BVW ,will swope in. They can backload the money till after Cespedes is off the books?
    harper wants to win and he wants to win in a big media city
    The only team I believe you I think he would go too outside of the mets is the Dodgers
