2019 Mets Minor League Transactions

Saturday, 4-13:

Columbia options P Garrison Bryant to Low-A Brooklyn. Bryant pitched in one game this year for Columbia (1.2-IP) and gave up 4 earned runs (21.60-ERA).

P Christian James was activated and transferred back to Columbia from Brooklyn. He started one game this year for Columbia, going 0-1, 4.50-ERA in 4-IP.

Sunday, 4-14:

The Mets optioned P Corey Oswalt back to AAA-Syracuse. He posted a 12.27-ERA in his one appearance for the Mets.

The Mets recalled RP Paul Sewald from AAA-Syracuse. He has a 0.00-ERA in four games for Syracuse, but posted a 6.75-ERA for the Mets after his first game there this Sunday.

Monday, 4-15:

The Mets recalled SP Drew Gagnon from AAA-Syracuse. Not sure yet what this move is, especially since there is no current opening in the Mets rotation. So far this season in Syracuse, Gagnon has posted two starts and posted up: 1-0, 0.84, 1.03, 10.2-IP, 8-K.

The Mets optioned IF Luis Guillorme to AAA-Syracuse. Guillorme wons a 25-man slot out of spring training, but, like the past, just couldn’t get off the dugout rails. So far this season for the Mets: 9-AB, .111.

A-Columbia has reassigned SP Thomas Szapucki to Low-A Brooklyn. Szapucki was attempting to come back from TJS 1.5 years ago and had pitched in two games this season so far: 0.00, 1.00, 3.0-IP, 1-K. No word on if he has suffered a setback from his rehab program.

A-Columbia recalled P Jose Moreno to fill the spot left open by the Szapucki option. Moreno pitched eight games (two starts) for Rookie-Kingsport last season, posting numbers of: 3-0, 4.12, 0.97, 19.2-IP, 26-Ks.

      Wednesday, April 17 –

AA-Binghamton has promoted P Chris Mazza to AAA-Syracuse. This is probably a temp move to fill in the BP slot left opened when Jacob Rhame was promoted to the Mets. Chris has been limitec to only one start this season (1-ST, 6-IP, 6-K, 0-0, 3.00, 1.17)

The Mets have sent P Drew Gagnon back to AAA-Syracuse. The 28-year old pitched five innings )one appearance) for the Mets, posting an 8.44 ERA.

The Mets have recalled RP Jacob Rhame. The ex-Dodger draft pick joins the growing escalator of  pitching being sent to Queens to help stop the pitching bleeding there. His stats so far in AAA (6-appearances, 9.53-ERA) makes one wonder if the escalator slows down from here.

  1. I think they are bringing up Rhame for only a few days. Once Todd Frazier comes off the I.L, Rhame will be sent down

  2. Rob -

So we would then go one less pitcher on the 25-man?

My guess... they will 10-day IL Nimmo, move McNeil to the OF, and bring up Frazier

  3. Nimmo out, Frazier in? That will stall the offense.
