Mack – Transactions and Kudos: Freddy Galvis, Drew Gagnon, Jefferson Escorcha

Mets send P Chris Mazza to AAA-Syracuse

Mets promote P Dreg Gagnon from AAA-Syracuse

My guess is this move is being made primarily for the Braves series. Gagnon has started of late and he could easily come off the bench as the first pen pitcher in if one of our starters have to be removed early.

AAA-Syracuse RP Jacob Rhame is out for the remainder of the season with ulnar surgery.

IF Freddy Galvis signed a contract with Cincinnati.

I bring this guy up because we still are trying to strengthen our bench and along comes this 28-year old free agent, that has already hit 18-HR, 54-RBI and .267 THIS SEASON for Toronto.

He plays short, he plays third and second… hell, he even has played in left this season.

My question is this? Did Galvis consider playing for the hottest team in baseball right now that are heading to the playoffs, or would he rather play for a team whose season ends at the end of September?

      Kudos –

AAA-Syracuse – SP Stephen Nogosek: 1-IP, 0-R, K, still 0.00

            AA-Binghamton – RP Kevin Smith: 6-IP, 0-R, 5-K, 1.98

Smith is getting closer to becoming a red prospect every day

A+ St. Lucie – SP Thomas Szapucki: 5-IP, R, 5-K

In the last 10 games, Szapucki has 47-Ks in 37-IP

            A-Columbia – SP Colin Holderman: 4.2-IP, 0-R, 4-K

Low-A Brooklyn – 1B Luke Ritter: 1-3, R, 458 ft. HR, 3-RBI

Rookie – Kingsport – RP Jefferson Escorcha: 4-IP, 0-R, 4-K, WIN, 7-1

A team has to come back a bunch of times for a reliever to have this kind of W-L record at this point in the season.

          DSL-1 – 1B Derwis Troconiz: 4-4, RBI, .300

            DSL-2 – RP Maurico Lezama: 3.2-IP, 0-R, 4-K

  1. Galvis was picked up on waivers by the Reds, who had a higher priority then the Mets. Galvis had not say in the matter, either did the Mets.

  2. Kevin Smith and Tom Szapucki give us reason to hope. The Zapper could move really fast next year if he stays healthy, and Smith is at least neck and neck with Peterson already.

  3. I think Kevin Smith is easily the Mets best starter at MiLB AA and above. Szapucki, Gonzalez, and Peterson. Probably in that order. Peterson has struggled some in 2019.

I'd gear these four up for 2020 ST and get them ready for "The Show."

As far as the bullpen, I like righty Matt Blackham best of all. Matt has the numbers thing going. After Matt, there is Uceta who is an interesting right-hander. But Blackham (I think) could be major, we'll see.

Mets still do not have that shutdown/lock down closer guy. Maybe someone will grab it soon? I hope so.

  4. Awards Due

    1. Mets bringing up Alonso and McNeil to start the season. Whew, that was a close one! My God I sweating it here.

    2. Mets bringing in Phil Regan and Jim Riggleman as coaches. Not just a good move, but rather a great one. These moves calmed the storms, separated oceans for walking, and said goodbye to "Dave" all in just one clear swoop.

    3. Getting "The Stroman" here and losing sweaty looking Elvira Gulch dos.

    4. Bringing in the new "JD" in MLB. Another power batter was precisely what the doctor had ordered for this franchise. You can never have enough.

    5. Not giving up on the 2019 NY Mets bullpen. Trying every combination and looking under every leaf and stone until their collective heads hurt. Paying off. Close now.

    6. Not trading any of the NY Mets top three starters and going for it all this season. What a concept already.

    7. Letting Jerry bring his new bobblehead to the broadcast booth. Next season it is "Cosmo" in a clown T, I am hearing. And the next season after that, "George" and "Newman" bobbleheads in a baby carriage together wearing the famed manzeres. I am going to get two. (One for me and one for my dog to chew on.)

  5. This team has "it" now. They really do. Fifty years later and "it" is back. Whatever "it" is.

(And no not the clown guy in the sewer drain with the yellowish teeth smiling either! "It")

  6. Isn't this team pretty remarkable? Its manager, its coaching staff, and its ownership for all that they have accomplished just over the past 3-4 weeks or so? (Truly Amazing)

And no one from the NY sports news outlets lambasting Amed Rosario anymore too. Man, you had to be so blind not to see that with Amed Rosario. Amed plays basbeall at a higher level, but his higher level actually comes naturally to him because it's his "normal level."

I don't get how anyone cannot see that with Amed, because really here Amed is doing exactly what he did in the minors statistics wise.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride of this fabulously gifted 23 year old shortstop, No.1!
