Vanderbilt wunderkind Kumar Rocker, he of the 19-strikeout no-hitter in super regionals and the reigning CWS Most Outstanding Player, was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday for Vanderbilt. Rocker is said to have arm soreness, and fans are already nervous after Mississippi State lost its sophomore ace JT Ginn. Hopefully, this is just precautionary.

He struck out 11 and did not walk a batter in Vanderbilt’s 5-1 victory over Hawaii. Vandy had eight hits offensively with Harrison Ray leading the way with a single and a double. Ty Duval and Dominic Keegan also added a pair of hits apiece as Vandy improves to 10-2.

         Kendall Rodgers comment on Texas Tech after week 2:

I think the offense will be explosive as the season progresses, and I also think Tech will be fine defensively. Frankly, I point to the starting pitching as intriguing moving forward. Bryce Bonnin and Austin Becker are both really talented pitchers and can throw the heck out of the ball. But both also had flashes of brilliance and flashes of lacking pitchabilty at times. WTS, I am still a believe both will have solid seasons, especially Bonnin. I also think Dallas will be in the rotation sooner rather than later.

Cavalli and relievers Wyatt Olds and Jason Ruffcorn combined to strikeout 18 Razorback batters. The Hogs did get a pair of homers, one each from Robert Moore and Jacob Nesbitt while Brady Lindsly added one for OU.
