Tom Brennan - METS' PITCHING DOMINANCE

Image result for dominance picture

HOW DO YOU SPELL PITCHING DOMINANCE?

I took a look at New York Mets pitchers who are

1) most likely to be on the opening day roster, or

2) are very likely to get a call up early in case of need.

How are they doing so far?

Answer: DOMINANT STARTERS, DOMINANT RELIEVERS

STARTERS:

deGrom, Syndergaard, Stroman, Porcello, Matz, Wacha, and in case of emergency, David Peterson.

THRU YESTERDAY:

34.2 IP, 25 H, 7 ER, 10 BB, 34 K, 1.82 ERA

RELIEVERS:

Diaz, Familia, Wilson, Gsellman, Zamora, and Gonsalves:

20 IP, 11 H, 3 ER, 7 BB, 16 K, 1.35 ERA

Of course, the reliever list does not yet include Dellin Betances, but he is a highly capable veteran who says he feels very confident he will be ready on opening day.

And broken pinky toe Seth Lugo is equally talented and should be ready to go without a doubt.

If the above does not have you, the zealous Mets fan, smiling very, very broadly, I don't know what ever will.

  1. Tom -

    Impressive.

But they are spring stats, many of which are made against minor league players they will never see again this season.

What the teams do in evaluate after one month of the regular season.

  2. Mack, let's assume all 6 starters continue to dominate. One swings to the pen, which will make it stronger.

I think there is a chance (long way to go) that the Mets could have baseball's best pitching this year.

I agree 100% with you... if...

  4. The backup corps has impressively dismal stats in the event of injury and the Mets need to reach down into the minors for support.
