8. Brian Klein, 2B, Texas Tech
It would be hard to be as consistent and productive as Klein
has been throughout his time in Lubbock. He’s a .320/.409/.467 career hitter
with 49 doubles, and in the last three seasons, including 2020, he has walked
more (98) than he has struck out (89). Additionally, he has committed just five
career errors in 170 games.
He has to be disappointed that this season got cut short, as
he was off to a scalding-hot start, hitting .409/.506/.606 with 10 doubles. If
he returns in 2021, we should expect him to pick things right back up where he
left off.

No. 184: Michigan OF Jordan Nwogu
The Ann Arbor native has been one of Michigan’s most
consistent hitters since arriving in 2018. He is a .334 hitter in his
Wolverines career with 20 home runs, 23 doubles and 30 stolen bases in 125
games.
BA scouting report: "Nwogu would look right at home
walking down the street with Michigan’s middle linebackers. A beast of an
outfielder with a powerful, 6-foot-3, 235-pound frame, Nwogu has immense raw
power, but that comes from an extremely funky swing that doesn’t have much precedent."

Burl Carraway, LHP, Dallas Baptist (No. 72 to No. 49, up 23 spots)
Carraway entered the year as the 2020 Draft's top relief
prospect and retained that title by continuing to blow hitters away with 93-98
mph fastballs and downer curveballs. He's a potential closer who won't need
much time in the Minors, something that makes him even more appealing in a year
where there may not be much development time for prospects.

14. Robert
Hassell, OF — Independence HS (TN)
Hassell, a Vanderbilt commit, which is important here because
Vandy keeps their commits as well as any elite program in the country, is an
athletic outfielder with what might be the best chance to hit among prep
prospects.
It’s a sound swing offering above-average bat speed and at
least average power down the road. Some see him as an average glove in center
field, but I did find two area scouts who see him adding a little more weight
to his 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame and developing into more of a corner player in
the Nick Markakis mold.
He has a good arm that fits right field and has the highest
ceiling among prep position players in the 2020 class. He got some Top 10
thoughts, but going by the profile — risk, reward, timeline, signability —
Hassell may not be Top 20 for me. I’d need to erase signability concerns
altogether and buy either his chances to stick in center OR his chances to hit
for the kind of power that fits in a corner.

Nwogu would be a cool guy to pick up at some point if available in an appropriate round or as an under after guy
ReplyDeleteI like him too Thomas
