I said, “PB&J” on the air tonight. Keith had no idea what I was talking about.— Steve Gelbs (@SteveGelbs) August 2, 2020
I’m completely speechless. I don’t even know what to do with that. pic.twitter.com/IvI6T8kOGn
For you math majors out there, a four-game losing streak in a 60-game season is roughly the equivalent of an 11-game losing streak over 162.— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) August 2, 2020
8/2/2015 Curtis Granderson, Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda all hit home runs in a 5-run bottom of the third inning. The Mets would go on to win the game 5-2 to sweep the Nationals and to move into a tie for first place in the NL East.@cgrand3 pic.twitter.com/YJF31PH1IQ

Happy Birthday, Mr. Koo. The former @Mets pitcher turns 51 today. He cemented his place in @Mets lore with these two memorable moments. #LGM #MetsRewind #Mets pic.twitter.com/MW3K5kHgAb

1962 - Phils P Art Mahaffey gives up two home runs to Frank Thomas and two more to Marv Throneberry, but negates those with a grand slam of his own in the 3rd inning. Mahaffey tops the Mets, 9 - 4 at New York.
Kilome nice debut.
ReplyDeleteAlonso soph jinx?
Wacha got smacka
As both luis and Diaz have said, rest=rust, and he needs more work to be sharp. In the 2 Braves games, we led by 4 in the 8th and trailed by 5 in the 8th. Those would seem to be the spots to use him. How else to give him needed work?
ReplyDeleteAs for the guy who DID pitch Friday, Betances admitted he needs to build arm strength to raise his FB from 93 to 98 mph. Maybe it's time for him to head to Brooklyn until that is achieved.
The "old men" seem headed in opposite directions, with Cano red-hot and running well and Yo looking like a rusty gate.
All in all, the season so far has a ST look, with SPs on limited pitch counts and players with no experience beyond AA seeing action. Even those with limited (and ineffective) ML time, like Sewald , Oswalt, et al, are getting "last chance" looks as we wait for the IL ones to return.
Strange atmosphere.
Bill, Kilome looked good in his debut yesterday, can Szapucki be close, too?
ReplyDeleteAnything can happen, but the numbers game is against him. The pen is crowdwd as is, the roster will shrink soon, and Brach, Hughes, Gsellman and Stroman are due back soon.
ReplyDeleteCorrection : Hughes IS back, activated today. Kilome sent to the Brooklyn site.
