Apple: All Mets photos removed from Amed Rosario’s Instagram account. “While
rumors are swirling of a potential Francisco Lindor deal between the Mets and the
Cleveland Indians potentially occurring this offseason, the Mets also have two
solid internal options in Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez if they look to stay in-house at
the shortstop position.”

Last we saw Tim Tebow, he was headed off to a WBC qualifier that never happened.
Tebow is 33 now, not having played in a regular-season game in a year and a half. He weighs in on his future:https://t.co/FJmbTtJkIh
Anthony
DiComo adds on Mets.com: “Although Tim Tebow is eligible for the Rule 5 Draft
for the first time next month, a Mets official said the team has no plans to
protect him by putting him on the 40-man roster. That means there is a chance
an enterprising club could select him with the intention of carrying him on
their big league roster, though multiple industry sources characterized that as
unlikely.”
Brian Joura Mets360: David Peterson’s peripherals, Pete Alonso’s September, Mets & Pirates go
back-to-back. Lots of good points from Brian as always especially how Peterson
had a .340 BABIP while pitching for Binghamton in 2019, he had a .233 BABIP
this last year for the Mets.

Bradford
William Davis NY Daily News: Marcus Stroman accepting qualifying offer is
loaded with omens for him, the Mets and MLB. “The free agency market is
bad. Marcus Stroman would have been no worse than the
second best free agent pitching target this winter, behind 2020 NL Cy Young
winner Trevor Bauer…Locking in a high salary and trying
his luck next year without the draft pick loss attached to players that decline
their QO was a rational choice.”
Amazing
Avenue: The Mets should extend Marcus Stroman. Stroman would be a very
solid second starter for the next few seasons.

Junkies: Mets Trade Target Carlos Correa. Writer Gem Tablak projects that the Mets can
get Carlos for Mark Vientos and J.T. Ginn.
Rising
Apple: Does Arodys Vizcaino have a role in the Mets 2021 bullpen? “From
2015 to 2018, Vizcaino
recorded 49 saves and 21 holds for the Braves, pitching to a 2.79 ERA and 1.26
WHIP over 180 games with Atlanta. His past success was unfortunately truncated
due to a shoulder injury that sidelined him for most of 2019 and all of 2020.”

In the KBO Playoffs,
The Doosan Bears beat the KT Wiz 2-0 to advance to the Championship Seris against
Aaron Altherr and the NC Dinos (Box Score).
Yonhap
News: “Chris Flexen was voted the MVP of the series
after making two dominant appearances. In his Game 1 start on Monday, he tossed
7 1/3 innings of two-run ball and struck out 11…Then pitching on three days'
rest, Flexen took the mound in the seventh inning in Friday's Game 4, with the
Bears nursing a 2-0 lead. He fired three shutout innings for his first KBO
save, while striking out two and giving up one hit.”
Yonhap
News: Dinos' Altherr not concerned about long layoff ahead of Korean Series.
“The Dinos finished first in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) regular
season. As a reward, they've earned a bye to the Korean Series, which starts
Tuesday.”

Nelson Doubleday and
Fred Wilpon buy the World Champion Mets from the Doubleday Publishing Company
for $80.75 million. In 1980, the book company had purchased the franchise for
a then-record $21.1 million. |
2012: The Cy Young Awards are announced in both
leagues. In the National League, R.A.
Dickey of the Mets is
the first knuckleballer ever
so honored after finishing the year with a record of 20-6, 2.73 and 230
strikeouts. In the American League, David
Price of the Rays edges
last year's winner, Justin Verlander of the Tigers,
153 to 149. Price receives 14 first-place votes after finishing the season at
20-5, 2.56 with 205 Ks, while Verlander gets 13, after a season during which he
went 17-8, 2.64 with 239 strikeouts.
2018 - In spite of notching just 10 wins, Jacob deGrom of the Mets wins
the 2018 National League Cy Young Award, receiving
29 of 30 first-place votes. His major-league leading ERA of
1.70 convinced voters to set aside his win/loss record, which was largely
influenced by terrible run
support. In the American League, Blake
Snell of the Rays is
the winner after going 21-5 with an ERA of 1.89.
11/14/2018 Jacob deGrom wins his first Cy Young Award. His 1.70 ERA was the lowest ERA in a single season by a Mets starter since Doc Gooden in 1985, and he set a MLB record with a streak of 24 consecutive quality starts. 364 days later, deGrom would win his second Cy Young. pic.twitter.com/lBKDA1gBcX

The non-tender earthquake in a few weeks could be a Mets player acquisition bonanza.
ReplyDeleteSeems like Ronnie, Cohen and Keith are mostly all in on Bauer. So get him.
Flexen - congratulations. It certainly seems he could come back to the states but if baseball is in a low pay period, maybe he decides to stay and pitch a dominant 2021 season in Korea.
Teobow? We’ll see come March and April. Too much else going on to be distracted by that now.
The MLB article that lists each team’s possible top rookie listed one who is likely a Las Vegas favorit for 2021 ROY...Randy Arozarena.
ReplyDeleteAronzarena has to be the lead candidate after what he did in the post season byt we said the same thing about Greg Jefferies after his 1988 September. So, you never know.
