Mets Links:

Mike Vaccaro NY Post: Mets facing more pressure to make MLB free-agency splash. “The Braves, as they will do, acted early and aggressively, fired the first shot and wrote the first check. They were already better than the Mets, and just got a little more so Tuesday… For the first time in years, that seems a fixable chasm. Now all they have to do is actually fix it.”

NY Post: Marcus Stroman flirts with Francisco Lindor in Mets trade push.

Mark Berman The Blogging Mets: My Mets Wish List Does Not Include J.T. Realmuto. Mark’s top three wants: George Springer, Trevor Bauer, and Nolan Arenado.

Rising Apple: Acquiring free agents will not be a cakewalk. “The New York Mets may have the advantage, but signing the best free agents won’t come without competition.”

Brian Joura Mets360:  How close are the Mets to playoff contention? “And the answer to that likely depends on if you think they’re closer to the 86-win team they were in 2019 compared to the 70-win pace they played at last season.”

SNY.TV: Leighton Accardo, 9-year-old daughter of Mets assistant pitching coach Jeremy Accardo, dies after cancer battle. 'Her courage and bravery inspired us all'.

SNY.TV: Pros and Cons of Mets trading for Blake Snell. Cons: Buyer beware? The acquisition cost will likely be massive. He's been inconsistent; Pros: The value could be tremendous. A better bet than Bauer? “average annual contract value is $13 million, it could put them in great position to land two other stars this offseason”;

Metsmerized Online: Opinion: Alderson Taking the Proper Approach.

Empire Sports Media: Why Keeping Luis Rojas is a Good Move. “This is a good move because of his past success in the minor leagues. Whether it was winning games or developing players, his pedigree in the Mets system shows he deserves a chance.”

Reflections on Baseball: The Mets Ability To Change Plans In Midstream Another Sign Of New Era.

Metsmerized Online: Should Mets Acquire Kevin Kiermaier this Offseason? “Though he’s crossing over the 30-year old threshold and hasn’t played more than 129 games since 2015, the three-time Gold Glove award winner was still able to showcase his elite defense over the shortened 2020 campaign.”

The Sports Daily: Mike Phillips’ Mets Player Review Series: David Peterson. “2020 Stats: 10 Games, 9 Starts, 49.2 Innings Pitched, 6-2 Won-Loss Record, 3.44 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 40:24 K:BB Ratio, 1.5 WAR.”

  1. Mets need to bring home the bacon, no turkeys, for 2021

  2. About whether the Mets are an 86-win team, as they were in 2019, or the 70-win pace they were on for 2020.

In 2019, the Mets had the AL Central for their inter-league play. That included 100-loss teams like the Tigers and Royals. Also, the White Sox were not as formidable.

In 2020, the Mets had the AL East for inter-league play. Of that group, only the Red Sox were weak.

In 2021, the Mets have the AL East again.

  3. Great point Bob - Plus the Braves just keep getting better. They need to keep depth while adding star players - right now - the best route is free agency. That could hurt them later on as it will tie up $ but think it is the best way to get better while preserving depth.

  4. Bob, I concur - which is why, this off season needs needs to be a fireball for the Mets. They will need to fight fire with fire to get to the off season.

  5. I'm thankful today for Mack's Mets and all the writers who keep us up to date on what's happening with our fave team.

But John, I am not only thankful, but amazed at your work. I don't know if you sleep by day so that you can stay awake all night gathering the info that you share every morning, but the result is awesome.

However you do it, I look forward to reading your column when I wake up every morning.

    Thank you over and over.

  6. Bill . . spot on! John is amazing in his output. Tom is not far behind and Mack and Reese are outstanding as well. The regular commenters are starting to feel like comrades. Everyone here makes this a positive daily read! It's a good thing I retired last year before really finding this site - I'd never have time to go to work!

With all the suffering going during this pandemic, I am thankful, if not feeling a bit guilty that this lousy thing has not hit my family directly. I am praying for all to stay well and safe until we can get that vaccine working against everyone and wipe it out. Only then can we get back to going to the baseball games as we used to.

Stay safe everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. Maybe once we turn the calendar into December, I'll start thinking about my Mets Christmas list a little more. Altho that came early when we watched the Wilpon's walking the other way.

Bill, Thanks for the great winter ball and prospect ideas.

1969, I have been thinking about your ideas about Prospect information. Hope to have more about that soon.
