Scouting Report - OF - Tyree Reed

Tyree Reed

OF    6-2    185   American Canyon HS

Next On Deck -

15. Tyree Reed, OF, American Canyon (HS)

6-foot-2, 185 pounds. Lean, twitchy frame that oozes projection. Loose bat speed with hands capable of holding upper-level velocity. Power will come as he increases his launch angle and tacks on muscle. Borderline 80-grade wheels paired with natural defensive instincts will keep him in center field moving forward. Left/left prospect with the offensive tools and defensive value to be a first-round pick next June.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Tyree Reed sighting. Haven't seen the kid play since May. Looks noticeably stronger. Still has the impressive swing from before. No signs of rust. Big weekend for Reed going into WWBA this week. 1st round projection.

Had a scouting supervisor at the event tell me Reed "looked like Jason Heyward up there" and I can't unsee the similarities in the swing.

10-9-2020 - Tyler Jennings  - @TylerJennings24

We have a Tyree Reed sighting. First time seeing him in person, the bat speed is ridiculous. Looks like he hasn't missed a beat, two loud flyouts so far.

Tyree Reed is going to be a monster with 10 more pounds of good weight and a little more core strength. His swing is among the best I've seen in the class. Built for damage. If he makes it to Oregon State (he shouldn't), he's got a 1.1 profile in 2024.

Prospect Worldwide -

Tyree Reed – OF: One of the more interesting cases right now with limited showings this summer. But Tyree still has that same elite potential and projectability. Working Gap-Gap with a short compact swing that will lead to some power as he fills out his frame, I see him being able to tap 20+ HR in some seasons. With his ability to stick in CF as a Plus Defender with him Plus speed he will maintain moving forward, and a Plus-Plus (70) Grade Arm talent to put fear in any runner that wants to challenge him. With a loud spring, Reed may find himself back in the Top 10 where he was at the start of the Draft process.

  1. If the Mets could draft a Brandon Nimmo in the first round, they could draft a Tyree Reed, too. Looks like he has great natural gifts.

  2. I see Reed as a good second round pick, worthy of our consideration.

I also think both Stroman and Bauer will sign a multi contract with other teams so we will keep our second round pick.
