Postseason hero Jim Leyritz signs a $500,000, one-year minor league contract with the Mets. The former Yankee has hit one home run per every 7.6 postseason at-bats, making it the third-best performance for players with five or more postseason round-trippers.

2008

In the richest contract ever given to a pitcher, southpaw Johan Santana agrees to a $137.5 million, six-year deal, completing the blockbuster trade between the Twins and the Mets. In exchange for the two-time Cy Young Award winner, Minnesota gets four of New York's highly touted minor leaguers, including three top pitching prospects, Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey, and Deolis Guerra, as well as fleet-footed outfielder Carlos Gomez.

  1. I guess Bauer will make his decision soon, being as it is February.

    MLB proposal sounds solid to me - but I'm not a player.

    11 months now since JT Ginn surgery = assuming he isn't stuck in some trade, I guess we'll soon start to see if he is a post-TJS Jake deGrom type in the coming months.

  2. Bauer keeps teasing about the NL East and small inferences to the Mets because he wants to get the Dodgers’ attention and wants to get the Dodgers to step up. He doesn’t want the Mets...
