The Mets travel to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, FL to take on the Miami Marlins at 1:05 PM today.
Today's Lineup: LF Brandon Nimmo; SS Francisco Lindor; RF Michael Conforto; 1B Dominic Smith; 3B J.D. Davis; 2B Luis Guillorme; C James McCann; CF Albert Almora jr.; LHP Mike Montgomery.
Rocky start for Montgomery. Not sure what this means for his chances of making the team.
ReplyDeleteEdwin rusty, bad inning, but of course 3 Ks.
ReplyDeleteMy reaction was that he just blew his shot at making the team.
ReplyDeleteIt was his to lose -- and he spit the bit.
Possible Blevins takes that slot after all???
I mean, I guess it doesn't matter. Opening Day roster vs. End of April Roster vs. July Roster, etc. The names will change. The important thing is not letting 1-2 guys consistently kill you over a period of time. Discard what doesn't work.
I personally think they need a second lefty -- and feel that Sandy never addressed that -- but a healthy Vizcaino would be useful, too.
It does feel, to me, that Lucchesi was a tremendous pickup. Ultimately I see him in the pen. Love his aggressiveness and crazy delivery.

Drury was a puzzling pick up this off season, and seems incapable of hitting big league pitching - maybe a big dose of AAA pitching can help him re-discover whatever he has lost.
ReplyDeleteWho needs Drury when we have Wilfredo Tovar!
ReplyDeleteIt's Tovar Time. With Tovar, heck, who needs Lindor?
