Each team's prospect with best fastball. For the Mets it is Matthew
Allan. “Heading into his age-20 season, Allan already pumps the
heater in the mid-90s, and he locates it well to all parts of the zone.”

Mets’ Dominic Smith, Mariners’ Kyle Lewis Lead List Of 2020 Hitters Not As Good
As Their Traditional Stats. “1B/LF Dominic Smith (Mets) - 2020 Act. =
.316-.377-.616, 169 OPS+; 2020 “Tru” = .257-.311-.519, 118 Tru+ - It took
awhile for the Mets’ 2013 1st round pick to get his legs and establish himself
at the major league level. After a couple uneven trials, he broke through in
2019 and took things up another notch in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season. Or
at least he seemed to.”
JFA’s take – I think it is very easy
to predict that a player will not be as good as the previous year as other
players make adjustments to what they did. However, I feel that Dom’s ability to hit the
ball all over the diamond and pure hitting ability will give him success for
years to come.

Online: Looking at How the Mets Overhauled Player Development. A very in-depth
look at the new hires the Mets have made in minor league development. These included: “hiring Driveline-trained and
former employees Carter Capps as Rookie League pitching coordinator and Collin
Hetzler as complex hitting coordinator…The Mets have also hired former Seattle
Mariners director of pitching development (2018-2020), Brian DeLunas to be
player development special projects coordinator…Edwin Diaz
credits DeLunas for helping him keep his mechanics in order during his emergent
2018 season with Seattle.”

Today: No shifts, more steals: MLB's 2021 minor-league rule experiments a road
map to future. “most notable coming
at Class AA – that teams will be required to ‘have a minimum of four players on
the infield, each of whom must have both feet completely in front of the outer
boundary of the infield dirt.’ Other changes
include: “At Class AAA, they will introduce a larger base (18 inches square
instead of 15) for safety reasons and also to enhance the success rate of
stolen bases - perhaps baseball's ultimate play of inches...a pitch clock
(Low-A West) a limit on pickoffs (all low-A leagues), a "step-off"
rule that requires pitchers to fully disengage with the runner before a pickoff
attempt (high A) and the automatic, or "robot," ball-strike system
(Low-A Southeast).”
A variety of experimental playing rules, which have been approved by the Competition Committee and the Playing Rules Committee, will be tested at various levels of the Minor Leagues during the upcoming 2021 season. pic.twitter.com/1aQMbgWHqp

second exhibition season bench-clearing brawl this week occurs when a raging Mike Piazza charges the mound after being hit by a pitch thrown by Guillermo Mota,

follow-up to a similar event last spring when a shoving match between the two
players resulted when the Mets' All-Star catcher waited for Mota and grabbed
the Dodger reliever by the jersey as he was coming off the field in the
eighth inning of the game. |

Three weeks, folks.
Tom - Pete has looked great this Spring. He just needs to keep it going once the season starts. Now that the regulars are playing, time to get them going as you say.
