(stats as of 4-15)
Here is this week’s five outside targets that could find themselves having their names called in the draft this year:
. Will Prater - IF Western Carolina U.
The junior infielder is currently 4th in the nation with a .452 batting average. There’s no homers here, but there is a .462 on- base percentage to go along with that incredible batting average.
The left hand hitter projects as a second baseman at the next level.
. Johnathan Lavallee RHP Long Beach State
The 6-4 junior is currently the holder of the 3rd lowest earned run average inthe nation… 0.48.
Currently, he has a 0.85-WHIP, and has struck out 27 batters in 23.2 innings pitched.
. Kevin Eaise RHP Penn
The 6-2 junior has pitched to a 3.00 hits allowed over nine innings, ranking him 4th in the nation behind Jack Leiter (2.39).
Currently, he has pitched in 3 games, started 2, and has pitched to a 2-0, 1.20, .102-ba/ave. stat line.
. Mason McWhorter OF Georgia Southern
The 6-2 Grad-SR is ranked is ranked 4th in the nation, with 50 hits (in 126-AB).
He also currently leads his team with a .407 batting average. He also has hit 11 home runs and is playing to a .743 slugging percentage.
. Dustin Saenz LHP TAMU
Jack Leiter… Gunnar Hoglund… Kumar Rocker… Ben Casparius… these are the top four pitchers that have generated the most strikeouts in college baseball this year.
But betcha you never heard of who is ranked 5th?
Saenz is 5-11 senior who currently has 69 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.
Saenz also is currently pitching to a 5-4, 3.91 stat line.
I like McWhorter and Eiase out of these 5.
