Max Clark.
The mere mention of the new #1 overall player in the 2023 class lights up the face of any scout, player, parent, or coach, and his presence on any diamond is sure to bring a massive crowd of onlookers and spectators. A massive social media following is glued to his every movement, and Clark’s cutting edge delivery in said space is sure to be the example that many future prospects follow.
But for all the hype, there is no gimmick.
A five-tool prospect with across-the-board abilities that are unmatched, Clark’s incessant pursuit of perfection might be his most awe inspiring attribute. No player brings as much talent to the diamond, but even more impressively, no player brings as much energy and exuberance. Max Clark is ALWAYS on. There is no half-speed to his motor. He glides around the outfield gracefully, and is equally as dangerous in turning a routine ground ball to shortstop into a single as he is stretching a standup double into a triple. He is a throwback player who is defining the future of amateur baseball, and is unwilling to be type casted.

2. Detroit Tigers
Max Clark, Outfield, Franklin Community
While Dollander seems to be the slam dunk here, Detroit is going through a rediscovery of exactly who and what they are in terms of talent evaluation and organizational philosophy. The rebuild hasn’t gone as they hoped, and they were burned leaning so hard on developing pitching. That’s not to say it’s the wrong approach, but we think it might be enough to push them in the direction of a super high-profile prep, or potentially a college bat like Florida outfielder Wyatt Langford or Ole Miss shortstop Jacob Gonzalez. In this scenario, we’ve got them grabbing Clark who projects to play a plus centerfield and hit for plenty of average.

1. Max Clark, OF, Franklin HS (Ind.)
While he hasn’t had the most productive summer at the bat, Clark remains the clear-cut top prep player in the country, one who has all five tools at his disposal. He’s now about to play for Team USA in the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup that begins in Bradenton, Fla. on Friday.

Clark could easily be the first pick of the MLB Draft if the team drafting at the top wants to be patient.

#1 Max Clark Outfield Franklin Community
Max Clark is one of the best pure high school hitters the draft has seen in recent memory. One area scout called him "The next Jarred Kelenic, with more physical upside." Clark has a fantastic feel for the strike zone and has a swing catered toward using the entire field. He's a pro hitter. Clark doesn't try to hit homers. He's a line drive machine. That said, he's really begun developing into plenty of game power and should run into 20+ homers at his peak. Clark figures to stick in centerfield where his double-plus run times and fantastic routes should age beautifully. The floor here is pretty substantial as far as prep bats go.

4. Nationals: Max Clark, OF, Franklin Community HS (Franklin, Ind.)
The Vanderbilt recruit has the best all-around toolset in the class and can do everything well on the diamond. He didn’t put up huge numbers in PDP League play, but he showed tremendous bat speed, solid exit velos, good raw power, a plus arm and speed.
Mack -
Clark could easily wind up the first pick of this draft.
What he isn't going to do is have his name called after the first TV commercial break.
A very special player.
Looks like a guy we’ll miss out on.
