Today, I…Saw this…
“All Class AAA minor league baseball teams will use “robot umpires” in 2023, according to a new report.
The technology, known as the Automatic Balls and Strikes (ABS) system, lets a computer call balls and strikes instead of a human ump.”
What do you think about it?
It has been my experience that minor league umpires are equal to minor league players. Mostly bad.
ReplyDeleteGo with the robots and see what happens
I agree with Mack. Go with it and let's see. But I've heard that some leagues will use regular umps and allow challenges (with limits) of ball/strike calls.
ReplyDelete100 percent on board
ReplyDeleteEnough with the human element
The human element is full of mistakes
Call the same strike and ball (not from the first inning to the 9th inning but from every inning in every game in every stadium)
Technology has now allowed mistakes to be eliminated and it’s the same for everyone
Tom Glavine would have been in big trouble with a balls and strikes robot. Give it a try,vi agree. It probably has been extremely tested, so you would think it s/b accurae.
ReplyDeleteThe technology has been coming...no better place to try it out.
ReplyDeleteThe pitch clock was tried out in the minors over the last couple of years, and the surprising outcome was that everyone liked it. Yet many would have said "don't do it.
are robot players far behind just think what he owners can save on them except Boras probably has his feelers out already
ReplyDeleteDo robot players have injury concerns? Are there repair shops to fix them?
ReplyDeleteMy last post probably won't sound so funny 10 years from now. Were already seeing signs in retail establishments that say "the whole world is under staffed so please be kind to those who show up" so how long till we see that sign posted on your local Ballpark so that robot thing may be closer than we think.
ReplyDeleteI tbhink robot football players before baseball. However a robot pitcher might work.
