2023 Game Notes - Binghamton Rumble

'Baseball in Education Day': Today's game marks the second 'Baseball in Education Day' at Mirabito Stadium this season. Over 5,000 students from 47 local schools around the Southern Tier will be represented at Mirabito Stadium today. 

Last Time Out: The Binghamton Rumble Ponies split the doubleheader with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Sunday, leading to a split of the series. Binghamton won the first game 9-8 in eight innings, scoring nine runs on 14 hits. Wyatt Young, Brandon McIlwain, and Luke Ritter all totaled two runs batted in. The Ponies fell 10-5 in the second game, though McIlwain homered and drove in two more runs. 

Rudickulous: Outfielder Matt Rudick extended his hit streak to nine games with a hit in both games of the doubleheader on Sunday. He has 13 hits, three doubles, two homers, and nine runs batted in over his nine-game hitting streak. Rudick ranks first in the Eastern League in OBP (.451) and top five in the Eastern League in runs (26), walks (27), and OPS (.969). He also leads the team with a .307 batting average and 35 hits, and is tied for the team-lead with nine doubles and five homers.

 BMac Delivers: Outfielder Brandon McIlwain extended his hitting streak to seven games on Sunday. He had three hits, a home run, four runs batted in and three runs scored across the doubleheader on Sunday at New Hampshire. McIlwain has eight hits and seven runs batted in across his seven-game hitting streak. 

Familiar Faces: Richmond right-handed pitchers Nick Zwack and Carson Seymour were both drafted by the New York Mets in 2021 and traded to the San Francisco Giants in the deal that sent J.D. Davis to the Giants and Darin Ruf to New York last year. Zwack and Seymour both started on the mound for St. Lucie and Brooklyn in 2022 before being traded to the Giants and playing for Eugene.
