  1. Pressing to "not lose" - pitchers issuing too many walks because they are trying too hard not to throw a ball that gets creamed because it is not tightly fit into a corner. Fielders trying too hard to "make a play" throwing the ball away leading to unearned runs. Batters getting fooled because they overthought what pitch might be thrown. Keith said, Whatever happened to "see the ball, hit the ball"?

Snake bit yesterday. Multiple outs on balls struck with exit velocity above 100mph.

One of these days it will all come together and they will go on a run. Unfortunately it will be a meaningless run because they have let too many teams get in front of them.

  2. Paul,
Well stated. Both of our rookie players are playing to not make mistakes or to make an out and not relying on the skills that got them to the big leagues.

  3. Sorry,
Should have said " to NOT make an out".

  4. Paul and D J, well said. Casey thought so, too.

Good teams know how, and have the intestinal fortitude, to stop tailspins.

  5. Bottom line they’re not very good! Their key players are batting in the 220s. They need a power hitter,a 20 homer guy who knocks in runs to bat 5th behind Pete. Sherzer and Verlander aren’t supplying the wins or innings that 40 million a year should get. They’re closer to the Nats in the standings than they are to the Marlins. They’re a bad team.

  6. To bad good old Roger Craig recently passed he would have fit in perfectly with this team. Very sad really but better than mediocre because now they have no excuses they must be sellers.

  7. I don’t think they are this bad. I do believe they need refocusing. I don’t like the bullpen usage at all. Nor do I like the 100 pitch line in the sand Showalter needs to show in order to please the MLBPA. That’s a crock of shit. Further, last year with everyone player, players were sharper and hungrier for the playing time. This year, they are lethargic and players like Guillorme and Cahna have splinters in their butts and since when did Cahna become a bench warming afterthought player? Don’t get me started…
