“HEY! HOW'D IT GO LAST NIGHT?”
“Observations? I have a few, but not to few to mention….”
Hitters below the vets in AAA fanned an awful lot yesterday.
AAA
Mike Vasil finally threw a decent outing for 4.1 innings, just 1 run allowed. Syracuse had a nice lead, but Vasil got a ND.
The veteran bats are raking in AAA, adding 9 runs yesterday. Catcher Hayden Senger had a hit and 3 RBIs, as did Major League Mark Vientos (28 in AAA).
AA
Batters fanned 15 times, but the Rumblers won 5-3.
Foster goes a nice 4.2 innings, gets pulled. ND.
Alex Ramirez was hitting .361 on April 25, but is 4 for 34 since, and down to .274 (.352 OBP).
Wyatt Young was at .239 on April 26, and is now at .277 (.427 OBP).
HIGH A
Brooklyn lost 1-0 on 2 hits, by recent promotees Morabito and Suero. Hitters fanned 13 times. McLean was 0-4, 3 Ks.
Omar De Los Santos continues to not hit, .179 in 78 at bats, but steal bushels of bases. 2 steals last night, 20 on the early season. Caught once.
Brandon Sproat lost, as a runner he left for the pen in the 6th scored. But he went 5.2 IP, and fanned 8. He and his 1.07 ERA, with 33 Ks in 25 innings, should be ready for AA soon.
FULL A
Lost 8-3. Fanned 13 times.
Houck was 0-5, 3 Ks.
Kade Morris fanned 9 in 5 innings, but allowed 5 runs in the second on three homers. He took the loss (4.55). He’s still 21, so be patient, people.
Boston Baro is 6 for 27, but his 2 RBIs last night give him 8. Harrison Bader and Jeff McNeil have an average of 112 at bats this year, and each has 7 RBIs.
FCL
Lost 7-4.
Simon Juan came up with 2 outs in the 9th with a chance to tie it, but fanned. He was, however, 2 for 5, giving him 5 hits in the last 2 contests.
Just 9 Ks for these youngsters.
Happy Friday!
Tom,
ReplyDeleteHouck was a prospect that fell to the Mets at the end of the first round last year. The team was very pleased to get him that late in that round. Was he over rated? Did he fall that far because other teams saw some problems. He looks a little like Parada who also fell to us in a later first round selection. What are you hearing?
D J, he is still young (19 all year). The old Regine would have had Houck starting in the FCL this year. They pushed him to the FSL instead.. That’s good.
ReplyDeleteMy concern is, even in that light, he has 45 Ks in 125 PAs this year. That clearly needs to come down. But he has walked 18 times. And 25 walks in 36 pro games. They may be pushing him to work counts. Me? I’d let the kid swing away, and reduce his Ks, then build up the walk side. Just get better as the year goes along and get to Brooklyn for 2025.
Still waiting for that first pro HR. The prospects page grades him at 55 hit, 55 power. Patience is the key.
Regime, not Regine.
ReplyDeleteIf you are in Portland today, go see the Rumble Ponies. Tidwell is pitching!
ReplyDeleteJoander Suarez has pitched at least six innings in three consecutive appearances, and one of those was 6-1/3 hitless in relief of Tylor Megill's rehab start. This guy is getting it done.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Suarez not pitching for the White Sox, Astros, Rockies, or Marlins, whose starters have a collective 5.60 ERA? Nope, instead, he is the Mets’ 12th rotation option.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is Tidwell’s last start in AA.It will be in the high40’s. McLean for Brooklyn is in Rome Ga, on a perfect 70 degree night for baseball.
McLean lays down the bat and puts on the pitching glove tonight in Ga.
ReplyDeleteI want to see Senga pitch to Senger this year. I’m not sure why.

DeleteThru Thursday: Mark Vientos has 28 RBIs in 28 AAA games. And 2 errors.
ReplyDeleteTied for 2nd in Eastern League in batting average: Rhylan Thomas
