Tom Brennan - Huge 7-2 Win

MARTE HAD A HUGE 2 RUN SINGLE

7-2 win. Mets truly look like the better team.

What I saw was great Sean Manaea pitching, and tremendous, tough at bats from Lindor, Vientos, Nimmo, Pete, Iglesias, Winker, and Marte.

They were so on at the plate in the 6th when they wouldn’t swing at Nola’s very close pitches and ultimately got him out of the game. Nola was good, but the Mets’ hitters were better.

And Stanek looked great, and confident, getting the last 4 outs. Looked like a tough closer.

What I saw in the Mets? Best team in baseball.

And the stadium was BOOMING. DECIBEL CENTRAL.

Game 4 Thursday. Jose Quintana v. Ranger Suarez who went 10-1 early on, but just 2-7 since.

REPEAT AFTER ME…..CLOSE IT OUT!

  2. These have become real team wins. Different heroes every game Lots of online chatter about need to resign Manaea. I agree.

    1. As I've been saying for months, they should sign Manaea AND one of Sevy and Q.

Players who have shown they can be successful in the NY pressure cooker are worthevery penny it takes to keep them.

What's wrong with a rotation of Senga, Manaea, Peterson, Sevy and Q, backed up by Blackburn, Megill and Butto? And Scott, Sproat and Tong a year or 2 away?

  3. They look so focused. High pitch at bats forcing the opposing pitcher to work so much harder and come in the zone. I really hope they wrap up today.

  4. I can't see them wasting this home field crowd

  5. CLOSE IT OUT!

The Phillies won’t go easily, but hopefully Quintana uses their aggressiveness against them. Would like to see Lindor, Nimmo, Alvarez, maybe stir a little, if not completely wake up? Alonso due to hit another one. The two out hits were all the difference: six runs with two outs. Awesome! Today, it’s time for everyone to join the hit parade.

  6. A bit off topic, keeping in mind the kids in Arizona, all three Mets hitters, Reimer (1-4), Gilbert, and Williams had a hit each, Williams and Gilbert (1-5, each) had doubles. Garcia threw a shutout inning.

    1. Did you see how many runs were scored by the 4 AFL teams that played last night? Something like 50 runs, with 17 of them coming in the Mets' team's 9-8 win. Our guys should have a hitting party there. I want .300 or better from all 3.

  7. Manaea's top of the sixth dealing after the two leadoff walks was epic.
I got a call and had to leave for a few minutes with two on and nobody out, and I must admit, I wasn't anticipating great things when I tuned back in . . but I was wrong . .instead of a 2-0 Mets lead, it was a 4-0 Mets lead . .what? did they credit those Phillies runs to the Mets?? I saw the replay of the strikeout and doubleplay - outstanding!

    Keep it going!

  8. A clinic on how the game should be played I have goosebumps! Us old timers are not used to this quality of play consistently but loving it Game 4 next lets wrap it up!

  9. Gary, R 69, and Gus, it was outstanding.

But I am troubled thinking about the poor Braves, having their playoff hopes dashed. I am compassionate like that. The Mets' season is getting many a rave, while the Braves' status is quite grave.

  10. I've been begging for 2 years that Alonso would change his approach and stop taking swings to launch moonshots to LF, and now MAYBE it's happening.
After hitting 4 HRs to RF all year, he's got 3 in the past 2 weeks. If he keeps going with the pitch and driving it, he may be worth yhst big contract.
