Tom Brennan: The Philadelphia Failies

On paper, they’re better than the Mets, those Phillies fellas.

Just like Milwaukee on Thursday, and Atlanta on Monday, the Phillies failed late.  Rather, the Mets again SUCCEEDED LATE.

Kodai the Samurai was impressive for two innings. My ace David Peterson great for 3. Kept the Mets within one, then the Mets could not be denied.

Mets win 6-2, lead the series 1-0, with the 2nd game on Sunday.

Oh My Gracious.

  3. No gloating allowed. It’s bad for your karma. The home plate was horrible.

  4. Yep, a friend of mine who pitched a little minor league ball years ago said the balls and strikes calls were brutal, and really favored Wheeler, who didn't need any favors.

  5. I saw the Mets were 3 for 44 in the first 7 innings of the last 2 games, and 10 for 20 in the 8th and 9th. Never surrender.

  6. I love the "death by a thousand cuts" approach and the Phillies fans getting quieter and quieter with each Met run and those silly red towels disappearing Met hit by Met hit and enjoying every minute of it. LGM!

  7. Gary, the Mets are 68-40 in last 108 games, and now have Senga back, and McNeil by the start of the next series. Let’s get there full force. The Mets have as much of a chance as anyone right now. We have late inning assassins. It totally reminds me of 1986.

  8. Viper, I am with you. In any event let’s win it at home in 3 or 4 games.
