5 days after the World Series ends, Minor League Players that have played or been on a roster for the last 7 years may declare themselves free agents.

Three players, Joshua CorniellyJoander Suarez and Hayden Senger have all resigned per Baseball America's Transaction Page.

Pitchers, Jordany Ventura and Junior Santos are possible resigns.  Both were listed by FanGraphs over the past 2 years.  Jordany Ventura had Tommy John surgery in 2021.  MLB.com recommended adding him to the Roster before the 2022 Rule 5 Draft.  The Mets did not and they did not lose him.

Other possible resigns:

Eduardo Herrera - Mets picked him up as a minor league free agent during the season.  The recently converted pitcher showed good stuff, especially in Brooklyn where he went 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA, 30 Ks in 19 innings.

Wilkin Ramos - Mets acquired him in the 2023 Rule 5 Draft.  He showed a mid 90's fastball with good movement in Brooklyn, Syracuse and Binghamton - excelling in Binghamton 2-0, 1.47 ERA in 12 2023 games and 2-1, 1.65 ERA in 23 2004 games.  He is currently pitching in the Dominican Winter League.

Jeremiah Jackson was obtained from the Angels for Dominic Leone in 2023.  A shortstop, he also played 2nd, 3rd, and the outfield for Binghamton over the last two years.  22 AA Home Runs in 2023 and 19 last year.  A very good athlete with speed and power. Ks are his issue, 144 in 500 2023 plate appearances and 123 Ks in 482 2024 plate appearances.

Jaylen Palmer grew up in Canarsie and went to school in Flushing.  He has tremendous speed and power. Ks are an issue with Jaylen as well - 129 last year in 325 plate appearances.

Carlos Cortes, the Mets 3rd Round pick in 2018 signed for a $1,000,038 bonus. Carlos should good RBI production with 68 RBIs in 127 games in St. Lucie in 2019 and 57 RBIs in 79 Binghamton games in 2021.  Overall in 6 Mets minor league seasons, 577 games: 72 HRs, 310 RBIs, .245/.330/.417.

DJ Stewart: One could make the case for his return as a depth piece in AAA as he has MLB experience. If not DJ, expect the Mets to add similar players to AAA this off-season just for that purpose.

  1. Great article, thanks for posting. Several players we could use at least for depth.
