ESPN.com: Kennedy outduels Syndergaard in Padres' 7-2 win over Mets. "Ian Kennedy threw six strong innings and outpitched the rookie sensation, leading the Padres to a 7-2 victory Tuesday night...Syndergaard (2-3) flashed the talent that has the Mets excited as the right-hander struck out 10. But San Diego touched him for seven runs and 10 hits in four innings."

NY PostSyndergaard’s final line included seven earned runs allowed on 10 hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks over four innings. It came a night after the Padres’ Andrew Cashner became the first pitcher since 1900 to record at least 10 strikeouts in a game and allow 10-plus hits without lasting five innings. Now Syndergaard is added to the list…Michael Cuddyer’s RBI single in the first accounted for the Mets’ first run. Padres Starter Ian Kennedy didn’t allow another run until the sixth, when Wilmer Flores delivered a RBI single.”

With the loss, the Mets fall back into 2nd Place, a half game behind the Nationals as they split a double header with the Toronto Blue Jays.
