returning to a game after a rain delay. If you pitch at least two innings,
you don’t come back in.

Evans underwent surgery in Pittsburgh yesterday to repair his broken
left hand. No timetable for return
Chris Schwinden has had a bad couple of weeks. Try to imagine what it would be like you
applied yourself in one area for your entire life and there was one single goal
in all that effort. Then you reach the top of the mountain only to be swept off
it by winds you just couldn’t have imagined were that strong, unless you
reached the summit.
We see so much of this is baseball.
Literally hundreds of pitchers try to become one of five. Most simply never get
a shot and, frankly, many times it’s not because of lack of talent. There’s
usually only one opening in a rotation and multiple minor leaguers clawing at
the screen door. A few, like Dillon Gee, start
strong, which is the secret to survival at this level. Others, like Tobi Stoner, stumble and are eventually never heard of
again.
I have no idea what the future will
be for Chris. I guess he’ll be returning to Buffalo soon. Imagine working all
your life on a dream and being banished to Buffalo? That’s worse than
Cleveland.
There will be the inevitable funk
hopefully followed by a strong season. This is his fifth year in the Mets
system and we all know what that means.

AAA-Buffalo:
The Buffalo Bisons today announced:
-their postponed game against the
Rochester Red Wings from Monday, April 30 will be made up as part of a
doubleheader on Sunday, August 26 (Game 1 - 1:05 p.m.). On Sunday, August 26,
the Bisons and Red Wings will play two, seven inning games.
-that New York Mets’ RHP D.J. CARRASCO has joined the Herd as part of his MLB
injury rehabilitation assignment. Carrasco is active and available to pitch for
the Bisons in tonight’s 6:05 p.m. game against Syracuse. ( threw 14 pitches of which 11 were strikes
tonight…)

The Rochester Red Wings have announced that the game between the Buffalo Bisons
and the Red Wings scheduled for Sunday, May 6 at Frontier Field will now be
played as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, May 5. (Game 1 - 5:05 p.m.).

Scales continues to lead the International League with a .390 BA, and a
.500 OBP.
1B/OF Val
Pascucci is second in the league in strikeouts.
SP Chris
Schwinden remains 5th
in the league with a 2.05 ERA. Jeremy Hefner is 6th at 2.08.
Fernando Cabrera is tied for 2nd in saves (5).
Jeurys Familia is 2nd in the league with 22 base on balls.
Good to see Josh
Satin back on 1B… he wasted little time, producing hits in (on?) his
first three at-bats. He went 3-20 after being demoted from Queens.
Jeurys Familia still having trouble finding the zone. The good news is no one is
questioning his talent and tools, it’s just command at this level. Jeurys has
had this problem twice before when he went up a floor. My guess is he’s going
to need this full season to work this out… OF/C Vinnie
Rottino now has a 14-game hitting streak… C Ron Johnson (only
had six hits in first 36 at bats) homered and is showing some ability to
produce a decent BA…
Fernando Cabrera (0.73) locked down his 6th save.
AA-Binghamton:
Per SNY, Zack
Wheeler will be placed on the 7-Day Disabled List with a right middle ‘fingernail
avulsion’ (calm down… this isn’t a big deal…)
Speaking of catchers, Juan Centeno continues to raise his numbers. He
singled his first two times up and then raised his BA to .286…
You know, Sandy and Company are
trying to figure out who’s going to replace Mike Pelfrey in the Mets rotation
and I have to tell you that 24-year old Collin McHugh
became a dark horse candidate after tonight’s game.
Every starter had at least one hit,
except for Reese Havens.
Robert Carson (1.80) continues a successful conversion to relief.

League with a .329-BA.

Josh Rodriguez is 6th with a .421-OBP
and tied for 3rd with 16-BB.

Matt den Dekker is 6th in runs scored
(17). He’s also tied for 3rd with eight doubles and tied for 4th
in strikeouts.

Pedro Zapata leads the league with three
triples, but also 2nd in the league with 31 strikeouts.
OF Raul Reyes
(.125) shook the funk off about getting demoted and hit a 3-run homer in
the first inning… it happened after two outs, with 2B Reese
Havens walking and 3B Jefry Marte reaching
base on an error…

I was wrong about Vaughn leading the
league with 6-HRs… he now has seven. We have to start taking this spike in pop
seriously…
Jupiter managed to pick away at Angel Cuan, Ryan Fraser,

day for starter Domingo Tapia. Well, he got back
on the horse tonight: 7.1-IP, 1-ER, 5-H, only 3-K, 1-BB, 4.70.
