I know that it’s trading season, and we’re
all looking for that ‘definitive trade’ that will change the face of this team…
guys, it’s already been made.
You have to give the R.A. Dickey trade some
time.
You received:
A
probable all-star catcher (Travis d’Arnaud)
for at least 5-years and someone that will start
for eight.
An
SP2-3 starter (Noah Syndergaard) that has already proved all he needs is a little time to
ripen.
A
seasoned catcher (John Buck) who has contributed 14 home runs and a ton of intelligent
handling of the young pitcher (the final outcome of this move may not come
until the end of the trading deadline).
A
bonus baby Latin outfielder (Wuilmer Bucerra)
who is already turning heads in the system (GCL
Mets - .306).
One
could easily project at least three, maybe four members of the, let’s say, 2017
25-man roster will have come from this trade.
New York’s most iconic sports
team is reportedly fielding a handsome offer from Clear Channel for its radio
rights. The New York Post reports the company has made a bid north of the $14
million that CBS Radio currently pays to broadcast the Yankees on “NewsRadio
880” WCBS, setting the stage for a bidding war at a time when sports teams
expect more from their media partners than ever before. - https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/13fca6f91333ac0f
Through The Fence http://throughthefencebaseball.com/trading-bobby-parnell/35092#utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter on Bobby Parnell –
Just when you thought it was safe
to watch the ninth inning without your hands wrapped around your face, some
people are suggesting the New York Mets should trade Bobby Parnell. This would
be a terrible idea. Why would the Mets want to give away a closer they spent
several years developing into the real thing? Have people forgotten how hard it
is to find a reliable closer who wants the job and wants the ball even after tough
outings and has top-notch closer stuff? A good closer is a necessary ingredient
of a genuine postseason contender. So is homegrown talent. In Bobby Parnell,
the Mets have both in the same player. Giving that away would be crazy.
It’s trade time and the Mets only have so many
decent players, so you’re going to continue to see good articles about the same
players. I have no problem if Parnell is traded for the right kind of ‘return’
player (example: Jackie Bradley Jr.), but, I also have no problem if he isn’t
traded. He’s a good member of this core team.
Kevin Burkhardt @KBurkhardtSNY -
Mets skipping Harvey's start Sat in Pitt for innings limit/blister purposes. He
WILL pitch in ASG. Can’t say I agree w that strategy.
You have to respect that Burkhardt, who cashed
his payroll check twice a month from SNY, is willing to voice his displeasure
on something that comes out of the Mets skipper’s office. You could easily just
not get involved in this, offer no opinion, and just put a microphone in front
of TC on the pre-game show for an explanation of this decision.
Here’s my take…
You skip a star if there is a related injury
that could either hurt the star or cause the player to develop worse problems…
but, if you sit him here, you sit him for the all-star game. The blister exists
and starters in the major leagues have to let these things heal. In addition,
there looks to be an impending innings problem for the season, so what better
time to keep your hat on (and everything else, Matt…), feel free to be pissed
off that you missed home game ASG appearance, but buck up. The blister exists
and must be addressed.
I’m sure some of you think I’m nuts. Fell free
to express your thoughts here.
BNS http://baseballnewssource.com/trade-rumors/2013-trade-deadline-15-players-under-30-who-could-get-moved/25073/7/ on Daniel Murphy –
Daniel Murphy’s name has been
whispered at the past few trade deadlines, but with his salary likely
increasing to the $4 million area in 2014, the cost conscious New York Mets
might actually deal the second baseman this July. However, perhaps the Mets
have waited too late to trade Murphy. Murphy has posted his lowest OPS+ (97)
and walk rate (4.6 percent) in his past three seasons. And while the
28-year-old has improved his defense in general, the natural third baseman has
made some costly errors as of late. Given the often-weak middle infield trade
market, the Mets should still be able to pull a solid prospect—if they decide
to finally trade him.
Just
another ‘public service’ about linking you to a good story…
Mack I agree with you and Kevin. We are not quite out of the race for the 2nd Wild Card if we can sweep the Pirates. Without Harvey it is going to be tough. Of course we want to see Matt start the game or at least pitch in it but we have to start putting winning first...I guess this is not the year. I believe in spite of this we will have a really good second half based on our 5 SP´s.
ReplyDeleteThis is no longer a game. It's big business and, if your team is playing well at this time of the year, you not only can't throw the towel in, you must put aside the foolishness of things like an all-star game and make sure your ace is at 100%
