The View from Port St. Lucie Looked Pretty Good Watching Zack Wheeler and the Mets.

Just wanted to report on what my contact (ok, my longtime friend, lifelong Mets fan, and writer Scot @scottyc9) observed during Tuesday's game. Zack Wheeler was 'efficient': Let's face it. We all love Zack Wheeler right now. Rather then simply state how good he is, I figured I would simply report that Wheeler was throwing strikes. A 9 pitch first inning is a great sign, considering the concerns everyone has had for Zack Wheeler trying too hard last year to strike everyone out, and throw as many pitches as it took to get it right. Zack looked good, from start to finish.

 Chris Young keeps finding his way on base: For all the concerns about the 2013, .200 hitting season he put up last year, it sure is nice to see CY putting the ball in play, hitting extra base hits, and producing, even if it is just spring. Granderson drops bombs ! : Say what you want about the level of pitching/competition that Granderson faced. The bottom line is that a 'healthy' Curtis Granderson managed to blast two home runs on this day. He looked good.

D'Arnoud putting some 'O' to go with that 'D': TDA looked good today. Caught well, hit well. Hopefully, is good and healthy. Not quite there yet for Erik Goeddel : According to my 'contact', Goeddel just "doesn't know how to finish batters quite yet". "both fat fastballs got hit". Finding sweet Nimmo : Simply put, the hype is real. The kid has a sweet swing. Vic Black pulls a Rick Vaughn: Overall, Black seemed to struggle with control of fastball.

 Overall, I'm sure it was really nice to see the Mets actually score some runs here. It was good to see the Mets projected starters come out firing on all engines to start the game taking turns getting on base. And yes, the future continues to look bright. And its not just the pitchers. Nimmo. Puello and Muno are certainly taking advantage of their opportunity to be in the big boy camp. And they are NOT embarrassing themselves here. All in all,
