Fish Stripes projects the following pitcher as a top pick in the 20?? Draft –

            LHP Aca Lacy           6-4      214     Texas A&M

At 6’4”, 215 pounds, Lacy is a tall prospect with all of the tools to be a star pitcher at the next level. Lacy has a four-pitch mix that includes a fastball, changeup, slider and curveball. His fastball is his best pitch as he usually sits 92-94 mph and tops out at 97 with some cut. His changeup and curveball are both plus off-speed pitches. Slider was very effective on righties this season and more swing-and-misses.

Tomahawk Nation has a great analogy regarding how much money is going to be lost to High School players in this next draft (if it isn’t put off a year):

          Let me give you one example. Last year, Drew Parrish was taken in the eighth round of the draft and was given a $187,400 signing bonus. If the draft had been five rounds, he wouldn’t have been drafted and could’ve signed for a max of $20,000, or decided to return for his senior year, and maybe get $10,000. The slotted bonuses from the 6th-10th rounds are from $100,000-$300,000. Almost all college juniors/sophomores and high school seniors are paid the slot, if not much more.

High school seniors and college juniors will lose the most money, likely losing five digits worth. Underclassmen and incoming freshmen could also feel some of the after-effects. Many will lose roster spots, even if the roster numbers do expand. College seniors could actually benefit as most don’t sign for more than $10,000 after the first five rounds. With less money used in the drafts, teams will likely be willing to spend all $20K on seniors.

 Athlon Sports  offered up their list of their top 50 college prospects that will be available in the 2020 draft.

The talent pool here is said to be the deepest of any draft in the past 20 years.

CBS Local says this New York City pitcher could be an early pick in the next draft –

            Alex Santos is one of the best high school players in the country.

MLB.com has him ranked as the 14th best high school prospect eligible for the MLB Draft, but the coronavirus pandemic has interrupted his senior season, his showcase for the scouts.

“He is such a hard worker. Baseball to him is basically 24/7/365. Basically, I mean, he throws hard. He’s throwing probably approaching around 95 [mph] now,” said Walter Stampfel, Santos’ coach at Mount St. Michael Academy.
