The Mets will be among those in attendance at Corey Kluber's throwing session next week, per source. They also sent someone to James Paxton's workout last month. Both are intriguing arms, as high-upside guys who started a combined six games last year due to injuries.

Brian Joura Mets360: Casey Stengel and
trying to thread the needle with free agents. “Springer would be a good fit
but the Mets don’t truly need him, especially if there’s no DH in the NL in
2021. Their real need is SP but with so many candidates available, they can
wait until closing time if need be. It’s interesting – at least to me – that
none of the second-tier starters have inked a contract yet.”

Post: New Mets owner Steve Cohen pocketed $1.6B in 2020. “The billionaire
investor’s hedge fund Point72 Asset Management returned double digit gains of
around 17 percent in 2020, according to an investor. Cohen’s personal take on
that haul is expected to be in the range of $1.6 billion — or roughly
two-thirds the $2.4 billion the 64-year-old paid for the Queens team in August.”

stopped by her office in July 2019 and began ‘an abusive, expletive-ridden
tirade’ in which he said her work ‘sucked’ and she was ‘stupid’… ‘We determined that Ms. Vavra made
numerous misrepresentations during her employment about things big and small
and the same is true about her complaint’…said Tiffany Galvin-Cohen, a Point72 spokeswoman.”

ReplyDeleteI wonder, among those billions of data points, if Scott will determine there are data points that could help deGrom average 2 more outs per start?
Anyway, if we can add a half dozen wins based on analytics, that would be worthwhile.
Tom - you would like the playoff system in the Mexican Pacific League this year - 8 of the ten teams make it - and those teams can draft players from team that didn't make it - imagine a team being able to add a Jacob deGrom or Juan Soto to their roster last year for the playoffs?
