According to reports, Seth Lugo will undergo surgery on Tuesday after an MRI revealed a loose body in his right elbow.

The most notable free agent solution right now is Trevor Rosenthal. Its not clear if he wants to close, but he is coming off a very strong 2020 (1.90 ERA, 38 K, 8 BB, 23 2/3 IP).

The #Mets should also sign Justin Wilson, but that was a given before Seth Lugo went down IMO.

Right now, pitching has to be their top priority. If they can upgrade at third base after they address this need, fine. But this is where the 2020 season went down the tubes (along with defense), and Seth Lugo was the glue holding a weak bullpen together. #Mets

I don’t think this now means they need to sign two big league relievers. You can add more minor league depth but you have guys on the 40 man who can fill in a spot until Lugo returns
