Long
time Mack’s Mets reader, Bill Metsiac, came up with a great idea of a post with
all the different Mack’s Mets Prospect lists.
Looking
at the Mack’s Mets' lists and all the other Mets Prospect lists out there, I
came up with another idea.
What
if we could take all the lists and combine them into one?
I
then took 11 different prospect lists (Mack’s, Tom’s, and mine plus 8 from
other sites), scored each player by ranking (50 points for #1, 49 points for #2,
etc.) and came up with the Ultimate Mets prospect list (all due respect to UltimateMets.com).
So without further ado, here is:
The
Ultimate Top 50 Mets Prospect List:
1. Ronny
Mauricio SS
(540 total pts.); #1 prospect on 8 different lists!
2. Francisco Alvarez C (526 total pts.); #1 Prospect on 1 list.

Thanks to Mack’s Mets’ Dave Rubin for his help putting this together and to Mack, Tom, and the other writers for their great prospect lists.
Did we miss anyone?
If so, leave a comment below and thanks for reading Mack’s Mets.
Very nice compilation list.
ReplyDeleteGetting back to a subject from yesterday, Matt Blackham is a composite # 40. I guess that must tell us something.
Sherveyn Newton (16) and Jaylen Palmer (20) are both excellent athletes, but both strike out a lot, and that usually does not resolve itself.
Glad I helped Tylor Megill come in at # 35 with my high score for him! I still think he is a viable Mets bullpen arm in the future. Maybe in short stints, he can reach 98.
Tom, with prospects, you never know. Two of the best players on the Mets right now were never highly rated prospects, deGrom and McNeil.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder when the top prospects are below AA for the most part and thus not close to contributing. Whatever happened to many of the high flyers from the past who hit the wall in the upper levels?

John
ReplyDeleteA lot of work here. Much more than any other writer has done. Much appreciated.
John Sickles used to say in a headline of his Top 30 Mets Prospect List... "you like C- prospects? You will love the Mets".
You have outdone yourself, John. I was looking for comparative lists, but certainly didn't expect anything this elaborate.
ReplyDeleteI hope you or Mack can archive this and look back on it after all these kids have played another year, whenever that may be, and even review it annually for a few more. It certainly will make for interesting compatisons with actual performances.
Thanks for a great job!
Bill,
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. Trying to work on a ten year review of Mets prospect lists - hope I am able to do it. Not all old lists are easily found.
