B-Mets Game Notes

LAST GAME:

For the second straight day, Ike Davis homered,
unfortunately, his solo homer in the fourth inning was all the
run scoring for Binghamton in it 3-1 loss to Erie Sunday afternoon.
Eric Niesen avoided his fifth straight loss with five innings
of one-run work with a season-high nine strikeouts, the
highest total for any B-Mets pitcher this season. Erie tied the
score up with an RBI single from Danny Worth in the fifth
inning. Then in the eighth frame, Roy Merritt entered for Edgar
Ramirez who had allowed a single to lead off the inning before
striking out Ryan Strieby. Merritt proceeded to load the bases
with a pair of singles before giving up a two-run double to
Santo De Leon, which gave the SeaWolves the lead for good
at 3-1. Brett Jensen notched his eighth save of the season
with two scoreless innings the finish the game. Although,
Binghamton did have the tying runs on base with one out in
each of the last two innings, before Jensen picked up back-toback
strikeouts to end each frame. Ramirez was hung with
the loss by allowing a run in 2.1 innings.
