LAST GAME:
Through 12 starts with Binghamton in 2009,
Dylan Owen had yet to garner a win, but last night, in his 14th
start of the year, Owen notched his second straight win with
seven, strong innings allowing an unearned run in the B-Mets
2-1 win over Portland at Hadlock Field. After seven innings,
the Sea Dogs were even keel with Binghamton at a run
apiece, but with Jose Coronado at third base and one out,
Shawn Bowman looped a single into shallow right to score
Coronado, making it 2-1. With a one-run lead Roy Merritt took
over for Owen and worked a perfect eighth with a strikeout
segueing to Connor Robertson for the ninth. Robertson struck
out the side facing the middle of the Sea Dogs order to notch
his second save in as many chances. Bowman drove in both
of Binghamton’s runs, the other coming on a sacrifice fly in
the first inning. He enjoyed a two-hit day for the second
straight game. Owen has not allowed an earned run in 21.2
innings.
