2011 DRAFT: - Andy Burns, Dan Vogelbach, Harold Riggins, David Chester... and Drew Maggi

Andy Burns:

7-18 from: - link  - On former Kentucky third baseman Andy Burns (.245/.321/.306, 12 RBI in 98 AB): "He's in transition right now, leaving Kentucky, may redshirt, may not—he's a quality player. He's played short and third, but will probably end up being a third baseman wherever he lands. He's a 6.8(-second) runner (in the 60-yard dash), he has good hands, an average, accurate arm in the infield, and he's heady. He's a communicator. He'll strike out a little bit like a lot of guys out here, but he's kind of a catalyst for our club."

Dan Vogelbach:

7-13-10: - MaxPreps Junior All-American Baseball Team - Dan Vogelbach, Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, Fla.), First Base - Named the Player of the Year by the Fort Myers News Preps, Vogelbach batted .551 with nine home runs, 41 runs scored and 39 RBI. He also had 11 doubles and four triples.

Harold Riggins:

7-21 from: - link  - 1b, Harold Riggins, NC State, 6'2 240, R/R, have seen this young man many times locally, has really trimmed down and toned up, has plus raw power and has made steady adjustments as a hitter, still swings and misses a lot but not as much as before, competent around the bag, some similarities to former ML player Ken Harvey who was a flash in the pan for Nebraska years ago - Harold continues to improve which is a key to his future. 250 type hitter 15-30 type HR pwr frequency potential. Runs well for a big man, arm is adequate. Will be a Jr.

David Chester:

7-22-10 from: - link  - I did get to see David Chester this spring play for Pitt, and I was surprised he was not drafted as a draft eligible soph. He's imposing to say the least size wise and has a lot of strength, he was a bit stiff in his actions and upper body and is loosening up some this summer. He's 6'4 plus and a touch over 235, he was 250 listed, playing for Gastonia this summer and he's already 21. Fielding wise he's competent at the 1b spot. He has 25 plus HR power type ability, will hit at least for average, 260 plus and he's not a clogger running wise but don't expect him to steal bases. He's on the map for sure for 2011 but again a lil bit in awe this behemoth was not selected in 2010 MLB as a draft eligible, birthdate of 3/31/89.

Drew Maggi:

7-23-10 from: - link  - USA CNT Roster Breakdown, Spring Stat Links and Trials Notes: - Drew Maggi - CF/INF - So. Arizona St. Univ. - Trials Notes: Maggi slots-in as a utility talent for Team USA with the ability to hold down SS/2B/LF/CF at this level. The Sun Devil is undersized and will need to add strength to project at the next level, but has enough athleticism and baseball feel to be a contributor this summer for the Collegiate National Team. Defensively, he is fringe-average to average across the board, projecting to second base or left field as a pro, but his bat is likely to play only at the former. His hands are solid for the four-spot and his arm is adequate. At the plate, he can get inconsistent in his load, with his hands starting from a multitude of launching points, but he does a decent job of staying short to the ball. He could do a better job of incorporating his lower-half and has a tendency to run through his finish. On the bases, Maggi is an aggressive and perceptive baserunner with good instincts that can make the most of a slap-to-gap approach. Maggi clocked the best non-bunt home-to-first time during the final four days of Trials, at 4.18 seconds.
