6/5/14

Round 2 picks

Follow along here: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/drafttracker.jsp#ft=round&fv=2

Biggest news is:

Nick Burdi finally goes off the board at 2-46 to the Twins
Sean Reid-Foley goes to Toronto 2-49
Monte Harrison to the Brewers 2-50
Michael Gettys to the Padres 2-51 (man what a steal there. Mets would have selected before the Brewers this round)
Joey Gatto (Jersey RHP and very talented) to the Angels 2-53
Ti'quan Forbes to the Rangers 2-59

This makes me really wish the Mets had their second round pick. I imagine they would have taken Gettys.

That is all for the coverage tonight. Thank you to all who have followed along with us. Mack and company will be back tomorrow with the Mets next selection in the third round.

Who wants a Gettys when you can have the extraordinary value, not just for this year but for the next 3 years too, of a proven pro like Curtis Granderson? And at just $15MM a year, what a bargain!! Why, just last night, he came thru huge for us in a big spot (oh, wait, that was Brown, sorry...I got my players mixed up).

Anyway, I am happy we have Grandy, and hopefully all you fans can be more polite and stop booing him.
