8-28-11: - Stock Up – OF Alonzo Harris – There just isn’t that many games that a Met minor leaguer hits two home runs in one game, but Sand Gnats’s Zo Harris pulled it off last night. Harris has had a frustrating Mets career so far and keeps falling behind in the outfield pecking order. We’ll see if a game like this gets him ending strong for the season.

8-28-11: - Stock Up – SP Rafael Montero – We recently added Montero to a prominent position on “The Keepers” list, and last night’s outing proved why that was done: 5.0-IP, 0-R, 4-H, 4-K, 0-BB. His stats for the season are: 7-G, 1-2, 1.45, 1.09, 32-K, 31.0-IP, 6-BB, .308-BABIP, 2.41-FIP.

8-28-11: - Stock Up – SP – Erik Goeddel – Eric continues to finish the season strong for the Sand Gnats putting up the following stats last night: 6.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 8-K, 3-BB. Goeddel’s combined stats at this point: 17-G, 15-St, 3-4. 3.08, 67-K, 20-BB, 73.0-IP.

8-28-11: - Stock Up: - RP – Eric Beaulac - This is a complete re-invention of a pitcher going in the wrong directly. Very quietly, Beaulac has become a very successful relief pitcher this year for St. Lucie. Eric went up the ladder all the way to Binghamton as a starter, but there simply is too much projected SP talent ahead of him. So, he started over this year with the GCL team and, now after ten relief appearances for Lucy, has a stat line of 0-0, 2.81. WHIP still too high (1.63), but he’ll work on that.

8-28-11 – Stock Up: - OF Gilbert Gomez – This is weird. I had a working title on my notes page entitled “Is Gilbert Gomez the new Cory Vaughn’? It was going to be a post that was pro-Gilbert, but, at the same time, designed to light a fire under a player I like and is going through his second slump of the year. So, what do BOTH of them do today? They both hit two home runs in the same game. Weird.

Josh Satin, More Satin, Eric Beaulac, K-Rod, Mets Bonuses

Josh Satin:

7-12-11: - mets360.  In his last 10 games, 2B Josh Satin is batting .406/.537/.781 over 40 PA. For the season, Satin has a .967 OPS in 85 games for Double-A Binghamton. Satin earned a callup to Binghamton last year and in 332 PA for the B-Mets he had a .308/.395/.472 line. He has bettered all three of his slash line totals this year and seems likely to get promoted to Triple-A before the season is over. A sixth-round draft pick of the Mets in 2008, Satin has hit wherever he’s been. A two-time Cape Cod League All-Star, Satin played four years at Cal and in his senior season he led the Bears with a .379 AVG and finished second on the club with 18 HR. He was a first-team All Pac-10 selection and third team All-American by Collegiate Baseball

7-13-11: - http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20110712/SPORTS/107120363/Binghamton-Mets-Satin-continues-smooth-rise  - Satin, who is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds with black hair and thick eyebrows that peek out at the pitcher from under his batting helmet, is having one of the best offensive seasons of any player in the Eastern League. The 26-year-old right-handed hitting native of Hidden Hills, California, leads the B-Mets in batting average (.326), doubles (32), hits (99), RBIs (56), walks (53), on-base percentage (.425) and slugging percentage (.543). He's also among the league leaders in doubles (first), on-base percentage (second), batting average (third), walks (third), RBIs (fifth) and hits (sixth).

Eric Beaulac:

7-12-11: - You think Greg Peavey had a tough night yesterday? Well, Eric Beaulac started for the GCL Mets on Tuesday for his first rehab start… 0.2-IP, 1-H… not bad, huh? Well, there also was 4-BB and 5-ER, producing a 67.50 ERA. This is why they call it rehab.

Francisco Rodriguez (now dated...)

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past five months, you know that K-Rod is on pace to reach the 55 finishes needed for a $17.5M option to automatically vest. Even if the Mets could afford to pay that option, it’s nonsensical — no closer is worth that kind of dough, particularly for a team in rebuilding mode. So, Sandy Alderson’s #1 priority between now and September is to find a taker for K-Rod — most likely a team in need of a setup man. And yes, Frankie could be moved post-deadline, since his contract almost guarantees he’ll pass through waivers. - http://www.metstoday.com/6684/opinion-and-analysis/who-will-the-mets-shop-this-month
