This
is the one area I like about Sandy Alderson. He seems to have a good sense of asking for more than
he would be giving up. If you do that consistently, some turn into real deals.
Bradley has much more long term upside than Parnell, though I would be happy
with either of them. I do think the Mets need to get on with the business of
putting a more potent lineup out there every day.
Bradley
had a hard time with it when he came up for the first time, but who doesn’t
(remember Dominic Brown?)
The
best thing about the Francesa statement is ‘others’. There seems to be some
action out there on Parnell so we’ll have to see if he’s the ‘definite no’ that
Alderson said he was.
My
guess in only David Wright and Matt Harvey have no trade tags on them right now.
Next winter’s Rule 5 eligible list has some

‘done for the year’.
As Toby Hyde likes to say,
‘pitchers get hurt’. Sure, it turned out to be a bad sign, but it looked pretty
good the day it happened. I’m not going to spend any time telling you this was
a bad deal. It was what it was. The Mets needed a pitcher and Marcum was one of
the guys that were out there. Sure, he came with some medical history, but what
pitcher doesn’t after throwing 200,000 curveballs since high school.
Officially,
it’s called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and the surgery is on Monday. You’ve seen
the last of him as a New York Met.
The
Mets activated RP Gonzalez Germen and will convert Carlos
Torres back to a starter until Jon Niese
returns.
