TODAY’S GAME:
Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a two-game series from McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a two-game split against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees at Coca-Cola Field. Tonight’s game is part of a four-game roadtrip that will close out the first half of the season.
ROADIE DETOUR:
After tomorrow night’s game in Pawtucket, the Bisons will not be taking their scheduled bus ride to Moosic, PA. Because of drainage issues at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s PNC Field, the Herd will face the Yankees at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse, NY. The teams will play at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 and then 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10. The Bisons will still serve as the road team against the ‘home’ Yankees. vs.
THE PAWSOX:
The Bisons are 2-6 against Pawtucket this year, having lost a pair of four-game series: April 9-12 at Coca-Cola Field and May 16-19 at McCoy Stadium. However, it has been a closely fought season-series as six of the eight games have been decided by two runs or less. Each team has also won a contest in extra innings.
HOT JAVY:
INF Javier Castillo extended his hit streak to 12 games last night. The slugger has averaged .383 (18-47) since June 26 with three doubles, three home runs and five RBI. Castillo has now hit in 19 of 23 total games with the Bisons. His hit streak is just one game shy of the Bisons season-high of 13, set by INF/OF Wily Mo Pena, May 25 - June 7 (.327, 17-52).
THE RIGHT REY:
INF Argenis Reyes is back with the Bisons. Reyes was optioned from New York on Tuesday night. Reyes had one hit in 13 at-bats in seven games with the Mets from June 24 - July 7. One of Buffalo’s most consistent hitters, Reyes has averaged .295 (45-152) with a home run and 13RBI in 45 games with the Herd. He is also a perfect 9-9 stealing bases this year.
FEELIN’ SULLY:
OF Cory Sullivan has hit in seven straight games and in 12 of his last 14. Since June 24, the outfielder has averaged .400 (22-55) with six doubles, seven RBI and 12 runs scored. It has now been almost two months since Sullivan went hitless in consecutive starts (May 8-9, 0-7).
