2011 DRAFT: - Tyler Rahmatulla, Matt Purke, Chad Carman, George Springer... and Brad Miller

Tyler Rahmatulla:

6-15-10 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com  - UCLA sophomore second baseman Tyler Rahmatulla will miss the 2010 College World Series after breaking his wrist in the postgame celebration on Sunday. He is currently hitting .328 with seven homers and 45 RBI on the year. This is a key loss for the Bruins as he is the team’s number three hitter in the order and provides leadership on the field. We should see how this effects the Bruins offense which heading into the CWS was the weakest out of the eight teams left.

Matt Purke:

6-15-10 from: - link  - TCU left-handed starting pitcher Matt Purke has been named the 2010 Pro-Line National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman Pitcher of the Year, as announced by the organization today. Purke has posted a 14-0 record with a 3.23 ERA in 103 innings pitched this season. The Spring, Texas, native has struck out a team-leading 133 batters, walked 28, recorded one complete game and held opponents to a .219 batting average during 18 appearances during 2010. The left-hander went into the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 3 in the country in wins and 12th in strikeouts. He was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year and received second team All-American honors and Freshman Pitcher of the Year from Collegiate Baseball News. Purke leads the Mountain West with 14 wins and 133 strikeouts. The left-hander also ranks in the conference’s Top 10 in ERA (4th), innings pitched (4th) and opponents batting average (2nd). He is the third Horned Frog to be named a Freshman of the Year in school history. The left-hander has helped lead TCU to a 51-12 record and their first appearance in the College World Series, with NCAA Fort Worth Regional and Austin Super Regional Championships. The Horned Frogs also captured the MWC Regular Season and Tournament titles. Purke has been named one of the finalists for the College Baseball Foundation’s Pitcher of the Year Award.

Chad Carman:

6-15 from: - www.ocusports.com - Chad Carman was named an NAIA baseball all-American. Carman, a sophomore catcher from Midwest City, Okla., became an honorable-mention selection. Carman led the team with a .412 average to go with 22 doubles, two triples, 14 homers and 56 RBIs. In the NAIA Championship Opening-Round Group 5 Tournament, Carman hit .538 with three homers and seven RBIs. He went 2-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs against Northwestern (Iowa) on May 18. In the postseason, Carman hit .388 with three doubles, six homers and 14 RBIs. Carman also made first-team all-SAC.

George Springer:

6-12-10 from: - link  - Outfield - You can’t help but root for Connecticut outfielder George Springer (.337/.491/.658), who ranked seventh in Keith Law’s Cape Cod prospect rankings last summer. Springer followed it up with an amazing spring, where he went 33-for-35 in his steal attempts, hit 18 home runs, and walked SIXTY times. Throw in 70 strikeouts (ranking fourth in the nation), which will tell you his biggest weakness.

6-13 from: - link  - OF, George Springer, U Conn, 6'3 200 R/R, power, runs well, ave ML arm and plays to win.

Brad Miller:

6-13 from: - link  - SS, Brad Miller, Clemson, 6'0 180, solid arm strength, range to left good, to right just ok, may have to move to 2b, but 2b has to come from somewhere. Runs ave, better on the way. Father, former UN Iowa alum. Good bloodlines and competitor!!
