Possible Player Movement in Minors

I printed earlier the seven promotions that will come out of Savannah this week. My apologies for not having Juan Lagares and Brandon Moore on the list. The information was correct and, for some reason, I just typed it wrong. Again, my bad.

In addition, the Kingsport and GCL Mets rosters are now on their web sites, so we know where most of the Mets minor leaguers will be by the end of this week (except, I still show in extended camp: pitchers John Holdzkom, Matias Carillo, Santiago Valdez, Zach Von Tersh, Julio Bello,
Cole Abbott, Gabriel Zavala, Brant Rustich, William Rackel, Jose Hernandez, Michael Johnson, Dan McDonald, Jake Goldberg; infielders  Marshall Welsh, Ignacio Medrano, Marshall Davis, Kyle Suire, Imbewer Alvarez... catchers Luis Allen, Tyler Howe...and outfielders Andres Perez, Richard Pena, and Mathew McCarney).

As of now, there are seven starters in Binghamton... Mark Cohoon, Scott Shaw (who was put back in the rotation when Brad Holt was demoted), Eric Niesen, Chris Schwinden, Jenrry Mejia, Mike Antonini, and Josh Stinson. My educated guess is that Antonini will get his second bump to AAA and Shaw will be returned to the pen. If true, Buffalo will have to decide whether Tobi Stoner or Bobby Livingston is removed from their rotation.

Just as busy is the St. Lucie rotation... Jeurys Familia (who is pitching very well tonight), Robert Carson, Eric Beaulac, Kyle Allen, Scott Moviel, Holt, and Moore. My guess is Moviel will be sent to Savannah to work on his control, joined by either Familia, Allen, or Beaulac. Of cource, that's if Holt is part of the Lucy rotation and isn't shut down.

The most exciting part of this would be the Lucy infield of 2B Jordany Valdespin, SS Wilmer Flores, and 3B Wilfredo Tovar. Lots of youth and talent here, though I continue to get reports that Mr. Valdespin has too much mustard in the roll. Maybe Wilmer can calm him down on the field.

Lastly, Savannah will need a catcher to replace Kai Gronauer, and my guess here is his 2009 platoon buddy, Jean Luc Blacquiere, will return to Savannah to work out his year long slump.

Just guesses.

1 thing, and I know these are just guesses, but - Tovar at 3B? I've read hes very, very impressive defensively at SS. Wouldn't it make more sense to finally move Flores to the position hes most likely to stick at (3B)? Or if the Mets insist on keeping Flores at SS, they could just send Tovar down to be the regular SS in Savannah.

I would love to see Tovar in Savannah for the remainder of the year, which frankly, is where he should have gone in the first place. Flores' bump to Lucy was held up due to the pennant race, which now is finally over.

Will Catcher Kai Gronauer's promotion to St. Lucie mean that, finally, Catcher Dock Doyle will get more playing time in Savannah?

it should... but I wouldn't be surprised if Jean Luc Blacquiere is sent back to Savannah to work out of his slump.

Doyle was prospect material when he first came to the Mets but there seems to be something standing in his way...
