2011 DRAFT - Jackie Bradley Jr., Mikie Mahtook, Nick Martini, Bubba Starling... and Brett Mooneyham

Jackie Bradley Jr.

7-10 from: - link  - There isn’t anyone that compares to Jackie Bradley in recent years of the draft. He has enough polish to move quickly through the minors, and that’s a little more rare from college outfielders recently. Most of the better collegiate hitters have been in the infield or at corner spots, while Bradley projects for center field. I think he’ll be an interesting player to follow, and his left-handed hitting status makes him very, very intriguing.

7-14-10: from: - link  - Jackie Bradley, Jr. (South Carolina) collected three hits as Team USA picked up its first win of the summer, 8-3, Tuesday night over the Fayetteville Swampdogs of the Coastal Plain League. Bradley, Jr. drove in the games first run in the top of the first putting Team USA up 1-0 on single up the middle that scored Drew Maggi from second base.

Mikie Mahtook:

7-4 from: - link  - Mikie Mahtook, LSU’s right fielder this Spring, has the athleticism and footspeed to hold down center next Spring, but would likely stay in right for the Summer with the likes of Bradley and Cone in the mix (in addition to Dugas and Martini). Mahtook shows good arm strength big power potential and a solid ability to draw walks, though he can at times get overly aggressive and still swings-and-misses a little too much.

Nick Martini:

July 7, 2010 - link=  - CNT Trials: Red-Blue game ends in tie. Nick Martini (Kansas State) put Blue on the board in the bottom half of the fifth with a single to left, cutting the lead to 2-1. Martini added a bases loaded walk in the seventh.

Bubba Starling:

7/6 from: - link=  - the USA Baseball 18U National Team past the Greater Alliance N.Y. All-Stars 8-5 Tuesday afternoon at MCU Park in Coney Island, N.Y. - Bubba Starling registered a hit and RBI to round out the National

7-8 from: - link=  - USA topples N.Y. All-Stars 10-3 - Team USA scores half of their runs in the second inning - Bubba Starling pitched one shutout inning of relief and added one hit at the plate.

Brett Mooneyham:

7-9 from: - link- recap - Blue jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated the Red squad 6-1 Thursday night in Game 3 of the Collegiate National Team (CNT) Trials at the National Training Complex (NTC). Brett Mooneyham (Stanford) was solid on the bump for the Blue picking up the win after working four scoreless innings where he allowed three hits and struck out two.

7-13 from: - link  - LHP, Brett Mooneyham, Stanford, Jr to be, 6'4 215, one of my fav HS pitchers two years ago, arm side run and velocity can be plus when he wants, was 87-93, mostly 89-91, fb down with natural run and sink, cb appeared to roll at times, other times nice hard bite, 1/6, he needs to stay in same arm slot for fb & cb, straight change was just ok, command was just ok too, but he's deceptive and throws a heavy ball ala, Andy Pettitte.
