from press release:
Josh Stinson limited the Fisher Cats to a run on seven hits over six innings to lead Binghamton past New Hampshire 5-1 Saturday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. The B-Mets are now 9-0 in games Stinson starts. Josh Satin provided the difference in the game with a two-run, inside-the-park home run, the first for Binghamton in over four years.
Binghamton (50-44) took control early with a three-run first. Kirk Nieuwenhuis reached on an Adeiny Hechevarria throwing error leading off the game. Two batters later, Satin roped a deep fly off the brick wall in center that kicked toward left-center away from centerfielder Darin Mastroianni. Satin went all the way around, plating Nieuwenhuis and himself to give the B-Mets a 2-0 lead. Marshall Hubbard followed and went back-to-back with Satin, sending a 2-1 fastball from Drabek out of the yard to right-center, upping the advantage to three.
New Hampshire (56-38) responded with its only run in the bottom of the frame. Hechevarria singled off Stinson with one out, was advanced to second on Travis Snider’s groundout to first and took third on a Stinson wild pitch. With two outs, former B-Mets infielder Shawn Bowman lined a single to center, scoring Hechevarria to trim the lead to 3-1.
The B-Mets answered the run in the second. Nieuwenhuis singled to reach with one out. Sean Ratliff followed with an opposite-field gap shot to left for an RBI double, chasing Nieuwenhuis home to make it 4-1.
Jose Coronado accounted for Binghamton’s fifth run. Drabek walked Mike Nickeas with one out. Michael Fisher advanced him to second with a groundout to first. After digging an 0-2 hole, Coronado worked the count full on Drabek before singling into center to plate Nickeas.
Drabek was pulled after the fourth and was charged with his ninth loss. The right-hander went a season-low four innings, allowed five runs — four earned — on seven hits and struck out four.
Stinson was dominant after the tumultuous first, tossing the next five innings in scoreless fashion. The right-hander put the finishing touch on his outing by getting out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the sixth with a double-play off the bat of Jonathan Diaz. Stinson tied a season-high with six strikeouts in picking up his seventh win.
Dylan Owen spelled Stinson in the seventh and offered up two, hitless innings of relief to segue to closer John Lujan. Lujan issued a one-out walk to Diaz before getting Brian Jeroloman to ground into a 1-6-3 double play to end the game.
