Bisons Activate Mike Hessman off DL

Herd loses INF Valentino Pascucci to the Disabled List

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that they have activated INF MIKE HESSMAN from the disabled list. The slugger will be active for the team’s game against the Rochester Red Wings on Monday night.

The Herd also announced that INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI has been placed on the team’s disabled list with a left ankle sprain.

Hessman was the International League’s top slugger for the first two months of the season. He was placed on the disabled list on June 10 and missed 33 games with a stress fracture in his right hand. Prior to going on the DL, Hessman lead all of baseball with 57RBI and was tops in the International League with 18 home runs.

On the season, Hessman has hit .287 (62-216) with 17 doubles, 18 home runs and 57RBI in 56 games with the Bisons. His 18 homers still rank tied for 3rd most in the IL while his .616 slugging percentage is just five plate appearances shy of qualifying as the league’s best.

Pascucci has hit .238 (30-126) with 11 home runs and 22RBI in 46 games with the Bisons. His 11 home runs rank third on the club.

Thanks for the great work. Any updates on Reese Havens? What does it say about how the Mets handle oblique injuries when Jose Reyes isn't put on DL and Havens has been m.i.a. for over a month?

You're welcome.

First, on Havens, no word at all, but that's normal for the Mets. You have a better chance of getting inside of GITMO than finding out when someone in the minors is coming off the DL.

Secondly, most of the time, when you go on the DL in the minors, you ain't coming back for awhile. Don't know why, but the Mets operate with at least 25-35 players on the DL all season long, all of which suddenly get activated the day after the season ends.

Lastly, Reyes should have been placed on the 7-day retroactive, but it would have been a media hurricane... so the Mets passed and operated without him for a few games.
