Rule 5 loss, RP Rhiner Cruz, pitched his first
ST outing the other day… 2-BB, 2-H, 4-ER… and 0.0-IP. Ouch. Please don’t send
him back. There’s enough pitchers in the system right now.

The Mets
brass seem very happy with the signing of SS Omar
Qunitanilla. It will give the Mets the option of letting Reese Havens play 2B for the B-Mets, while Jordany Valdespin gets a full season in Buffalo at second.
· You see,
you just never can figure out why the Mets do what they do in the spring. You
have Dylan Owen,Collin McHugh, Chris Schwinden, Miguel
Batista, Mark Cohoon, and Jeremy Hefner battling
it out for the five starter slots in Buffalo, you still haven’t made a decision
on Tobi Stoner, Eric Niesen or Eric Beaulac, and then you go out and sign Kevin Mulvey. WTF?

There are
multiple reports that pitcher Chris Young might
be returning to the Mets this season. Young was going strong last year before
being lost for the season. Most of you probably believe that the addition of
Young would create a demotion of Dillon Gee back
to the minors; however, don’t be surprised if a move like this could create the
release of Mike Pelfrey. March is famous for big
releases (Oliver Perez) and Gee offers the Mets
more predictably sanity at this point.

I never usually post any comments, but this must be said. The Mets releasing Perez is a totally different situation then what's up with Pelfrey. Ollie lost everything and had no velocity. He was completely hated by fans. While Pelfrey certainly isn't beloved, when you consider the glaring lack of depth in their rotation and arguably only one low level prospect(Schwinden) ready to fill in if there's an injury, to think they'd release Pelfrey after just signing him for over 5 million this year, you are completely out of your mind. Especially to replace him with a pitcher coming off shoulder surgery! I've read some doosies here on this site, but that takes the cake. Again, the Mets will never release Mike Pelfrey during this spring training! Young isn't even going to be ready until after May so that means they would have to dump Mike and use either Sxhwinden or Bautista until he is ready. What a horrible baseball decision when you consider they have zero better options ready to fill in and that doesn't even take into account the money wasted paying Pelfrey for just 6 weeks of spring training. When it comes to the minor league stuff, you are tops, but saying things like this is kind of crazy for a respectable baseball site. Advice...predictions like this, and saying Johan will never pitch in the majors for the Mets ever again are really bold statements and leaves you entirely too open for "foot in mouth" situations. Thanks.
Jeez, didn't mean to set you off.
Sorry you're prevented from identifying yourself.
I don't think the Mess will ever release Pelf, as there is always someone who would take him in trade, figuring they could "fix" him, perhaps someone like Cooper w/ White Sox. Can't see how Chris Young can come back before the summer, as he had same injury as Johan, perhaps not as intense, and will need more than a year, most likely, to completely heal. Love Young, have since I saw him in SD, but can't think he will be a factor this season at all, and certainly not before August.
