He signed with Windy City on July 1, 2011. Mincone was an 11th round selection of the Chicago Cubs in the 2009 amateur entry draft. He pitched two seasons in the Cubs' organization, reaching low-A Boise. At James Madison, he went 1-3 with an 8.86 ERA in 2008. John attended Half Hollow Hills High School in Dix Hills, New York.
